ZZ Performance downpipe w/ high flow cat installed

Just letting everyone know the ZZ performance downpipe w/ high flow cat does bolt up for us 2.4 guys. Wasn't too bad of an install, did it in my driveway w/ the use of a little WD 40 and a basic set of tools and stock jack. Granted things were a little tight but with a jack stands or a lift it could be done very easily. I did have to remove the lower heat shield below where the manifold connects to the downpipe to get one of the bolts off, so i would advise to take that off first if you do the install as it makes alot easer to get off all the other bolts and is necessary for the driver side bolt anyways so you might as well make it easier for the others. It does have the noise that sounds like an exhasut leak but this is normal w/ a new cat and should go away once miles are racked up and some carbon is built up in the cat. The downpipe looked to be very nicely constructed with good welds and thick flanges. Big thanks goes to ZZ Performance. I'll let you guys know of any power gains i feel but i've yet to really get on it as i'm waiting a few days to make sure everythigns on nice and tight.

Actually it's called a "b-pipe", not a downpipe but we know what you mean.

What's the diameter of the b-pipe?

What type of manifold/header are you using?

Just curious...

Its a 3" pipe which I was a little concernd that might be to big for a NA 4 cylinder as far as loosing tq but so far i havn't noticed a difference in the lower rpms and some gain in the upper rpms. Granted i haven't pushed it hard just yet i want to break in a bit. As far as header i just have the stock manifold . I'm waiting for Clear Image to come out with there header but I might also look at others.

Yeah that's a bit big...

If the rest of your exhaust system is smaller, than that's why you haven't noticed a huge loss.

is the noise going away? If not is it so bad that it makes it not worth buying?

No its def going away. I've put 300 on so far and can definatly tell its getting quiter. It goes away completely at certain rpm's. and Also if you drive normal you won't here it at all. I am starting to like weapon r's header being that its 4-2-1 so not sure if i'm going to keep the ZZ performance dp w/ cat or not.

When you're turbo'd, you no longer have a b pipe, it's a downpipe.

Sort of off topic but what modifications did you have when you dyno'd 159 WHP?

Is this down pipe the one sold by cobalt addiction? or where did you purchase it, im also waiting to get the clear image header. If I got the 2.5 downpipe do you think it will line up to the clear image header?

kind of off topic...but Brandon, how does the 2.4 ride with the sportlines on it? I'm thinking about getting a set and i'm on the fence about ride comfort and clearance.

btw, i'm pretty excited about the possibilities of the 2.4, especially with what you're throwing to the wheels right now. thanks for the info!

The sportlines ride great pretty close to stock. A little firmer then stock but does let you feel the potholes and big bumps in the road more but its not anything harsh. And there is still about a two finger gap maybe a little less so clearance is fine. I have a decent slop on my driveway and I dont scrape at all. hope that helps any more questions just PM me.

And an update. I've put almost 700 miles on the car since the install and the sound is ALOT quieter. I can only really hear it at the mid rpms when i'm not at wot. Duing DD under say 3500 i don't hear it and when i go wot after about 5000 my intake and exhaust drown the sound out. So you still hear it a little from 3500-5000 but its not loud. Almost sounds like a turbo spooling
