ZZP SC Kit Sucks.

Literally.

Busted the steel holding the sides together and now I've got a nasty gash letting in unfiltered spring air. I guess after this long if they still aint got us a cold air kit they aint never gonna.

Time to start thinking hard about making my own, with a much larger sized K&N where the washer tank currently resides.

Install thread: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-4l...t-fire-233767/

Sketchy PCM/TCM reflash by ZZP, otherwise install was fairly staright forward.

Hmm, honestly hadn't thought of that. Thing now is I've got an LS4 TB, I'd want something that kept that extra diameter.

Very fresh, only installed 2 days ago. Bought from ZZP so it has been machined in a mill. I have HPTuners so I adjust the ETC Area Scalar like ZZP suggests and It works like a charm. No complaints yet, throttle isnt touchy.

From ZZP site: **PCM calibration required. In HPT under engine idle airflow the ETC area scaler is normally 2950 (this works out to throttle plate area in milimeters less the rod area).
67.4 dia, pi*r2 = 3568 less throttle rod area (620) = 2948
75 dia, pi*r2 = 4418 less throttle rod area (730) = 3688
You'll need to change the 2950 to 3688. Many users have reported better results going even higher. We have tested numbers ranging from 3775 to 5500 without issue.

I used the bare minimum 3688, might play around with it if I get bored.

The lsj intake might have to be massaged a bit to fit honestly as the auto engines are clocked forward. Also if your going to attempt this then it might be a good idea to find an lsj windshield washer bottle (since lsj bottles are on the opposite side)

looks like that filter could not pass air through it and calapsed at the bottom, also looks like it was crushed on the top side and center..

zzp has this tasty looking 3" cai: Cobalt & Ion ---> ZZ Performance

But doesn't fit the 2.4 sc kit they offer according to steve. going to end up building my own out of 3" pvc plus some bends, some silicon couplers and a maf tube. then i'll wrap it in cf tape to pretty it up.

has no one with the zzp sc kits done this before?

I know someone with a RAW 3" lsj intake on his supercharged 2.4 Auto. Works fine. Any lsj intake should work, as mentioned. Just get the lsj washer fluid holder for the other side. Also, if you do go with the lsj setup, I would recommend the intake you buy be Stainless steel, not aluminum. You will thank me when your intake doesn't wear through from rubbing on the frame when going through the tiny hole down into the wheel well. For this same reason, i would definitely not try making a pvc intake for it!

mtbrent-that is what I was thinking, ok so my engine is tilted forward 1.5 inches but that shouldn't be a deal breaker. I still have my heart set on ZZPs 3", even If I have to hack it and add a coupler or something.

No PVC, gotcha. I was going to enlarge my opening through the unitbody to keep rubbing to a minimum and even add some rubber edging to act like a grommet.

Sent ZZP another email, I think I can modify their cai to fit my 2.4 auto without major difficulty.

It has made daily driving at low speeds much smoother (did change my scalar to 4950 at the same time I added my 60#s). It needs a full 3" intake setup with larger air filter imo to do what it really is designed to do: flow more air.

Zooomer says no, theirs really wont work for me. Building my own next week, enough is enough.

Edit: And oh yeah, mileage went through the roof! was having a brutal time keeping consumption under 9l/100km until i added 3.1 pulley, 60# and the larger TB. Pulled 6.9l/100km over 75km last night, driving 90kmh. A pleasant suprise.

I was able to get the LSJ OTTP 3" Intake on my SC'd Automatic 2.2... relocated washer fluid tank by using the LSJ one.

Not sure how big of a difference the fitment is between the 2.2 and the 2.4

ya i had a fujita 3" intake on my 2.4 auto when i was sc'd. there is a bolt underneath your abs box thing or whatever you want to call it. (the thing that has all the hard lines running into it that is in the way.) and you can tilt it slightly forward to fit the intake.

Thanks guys, if an OTTP and a Fujita can fit, why not ZZP? Anyways, they don't seem to want me to try so OTTP is looking like the winner here.

About the washer tank relocation, simple to reroute the plumbing? any extra parts required? aside from the lsj tank of course.

I've done the research myself when I was nearly ready to piece together a kit. Should be straight forward. Relocate the wipe fluid tank and fit in an aftermarket LSJ intake. I do have to admit that the short ram bs that ZZP provides was a huge let down. We should get a thread rolling and have it stickied about this issue considering ZZP hasn't and probably will not release a CAI option for the kit.

I'm currently knee deep in Greg Banish's tuning bibles and from what he has had to say about MAF tuning (basically the most important sensor we have) the short ram setup doesn't do the kit any justice whatsoever.

Calling OTTP first thing tomorrow, hoping they ship same day.
