200hp cruze?

young guy at work has a cruze. nice wheels, some paint and dual exhaust. it sounds nice and looks great.

i had a chat with him about it. he said it has an intake and exhaust and says it probably makes about 200hp.

he said he wishes it had a cobalt ss motor in it haha

i said.. ya i have one of those.

Cool...

Vander Nars May 4, 2013 11:14 PM

does he have the 140hp or 180 turbo motor? If he is has the turbo one he may think he has 200 hp because of he is counting by crank hp.

emiller May 4, 2013 11:25 PM

What 180hp one?

Has a 1.6 turbo listed as 181 hp dont know if its true just seen it posted on there.

Not in north america. Could a tuned 1.4 make 200hp with just a intake and exhaust?

Macgyver2484 May 4, 2013 11:56 PM

Yes, a 200 HP cruze (at the crank) with the 1.4L turbo engine isn’t too difficult to obtain with a tune, intake, and exhaust system with a high flow downpipe/mid-pipe. A 1.8L naturally aspirated would be near impossible to obtain 200 HP without additional breathing modifications like cam work or porting.

Powell Race Parts May 5, 2013 12:06 AM

the cruze 1.4 is maxed out stock. Modding that motor leads to "boom". Its not a real ecotec. Its a daewoo grenade.

Macgyver2484 May 5, 2013 01:20 AM

Vince at Trifeca has talked about decent HP increases with the 1.4L. I’m sure it’s not as reliable as the 2.0L ecotec engines where users have added 100+ HP to the stock values without problem.

It's a 1.4L that get's good mpgs, provides good power for the size, and gives the user a powerband that is usable for everyday driving... I don't know why you would mod it at all.... But a tune is said to be good
for 180 horse and 200 torque. Or so they say.

Cobalt_Daddy May 5, 2013 06:45 AM

he didn't mention a tune so i'm not sure but im still guessing it's not making 200hp. i'll ask him next week and see what he says.

Cobalt_Daddy May 6, 2013 07:07 PM

talked to the kid today. he has trifeca tune as well. he says he is a trifecta tuner.

he figures hes making 200hp and 180tq.

Gobolt210 May 6, 2013 10:00 PM

naw i said i'd like to race him just to see how his cruze fairs and he didn't sound interested.

he did some suspension as well. ill try to get a picture of it. to be honest it's the nicest cruze i've seen and it sounds good as well.

i really do like the cruze, if they made a SS with only 200hp and NLS it would hurt

Mr Mall Cop May 8, 2013 07:36 PM

A 200HP Cruze, not bad he could race Honda's and Mazda 3's their owners think they have fast cars

Cobalt_Daddy May 8, 2013 08:21 PM

chatted with him today.

gonna post some pictures soon

he's got rims, strut bars, springs, shark fin antenna, intake, magnaflow exhaust with rear cat and muffler delete, trifecta tune, 12 inch sub and 1000w amp, tinted windows, rear tails.

again i will say the car looks very nice and sounds great. very deep growl and not raspy or wimpy.

i told him it's the nicest cruze i've seen.

we're probably gonna get some car guys together in the near future.

again pictures to follow soon i hope

mitchk90 May 13, 2013 06:20 AM

I would say his but dyno is a tad off. But ether way, sounds like a cool car.

OttawaMark May 13, 2013 06:30 AM

That new 2.5l ecotec would be a fun cruze.

riceburner May 13, 2013 08:20 AM

well he's just going by what he thinks it has, idk if it not being tuned restricts the power like an intake on an lnf does but if not it may be close.

mazda_2_pontiac May 14, 2013 12:40 AM

I am really interested in seeing this new diesel cruze thats on its way. I am thinking its got some potential

Mr Mall Cop May 14, 2013 07:42 PM
