it makes me wonder they cancelled everything even the new camaro Z28. Other than the corvette and the camaro SS what performance models will be left for the 2011 model year. If anything is close enough to devolpment to be released soon we would of heard about it.
lol hell yeah it is as long as you got stock in gold

thats very naive to think that
It doesn't look good for anything that implies "performance" in the near future...

I think that GM is eager to off the government loan. They know they made a mistake getting in bed with the government...Ford is running away fast and laughing all the way to the bank because they didn't take the poison pill from the white house...

The amount of some narrow mindedness in this thread is astounding.
GMPPD is dead yes, but do you REALLY think GM is done with enthusiast vehicles?
FFS the 2011 Regal will feature a 2.0T AND a stick shift.
Performance isn't dead @ GM and keep that political BS off this site.

OR
They were told not to make perfomance cars because making performance cars with tax payer money isn't very good PR for Mr. Obama
seriously which one is more naive. Once they get out of debt Im sure they will make performance versions but they straight up said the performance projects are on indefinate hold

As long it remains "Government Motors", the chances of performance enthusiast vehicles having a business case remains slim...
It strange how things work in this administration...they lend tax payer money (not give) to GM and all of the sudden they're "owned" by the government...how would you like to have your mortgage company tell you which restaurant you can and cannot go to?

Second obviously politics is going to come into play when the goverment has 60% of GM.
3rd the buick regal is a 3600 pound fwd car with 220 hp that does 0-60 is 7.8 seconds that would put its quarter mile time somewhere in the high 15 second range-low 16 second range which is about the speed of a regular 2009 LAP 2.2 cobalt just because it has a turbo and comes in manual doesn't mean its an enthuisast vehicle.
^^^Are you really a LED guru? I love LEDs...

first yes I think GM is done with high performance cars UNTIL the goverment doesn't have 60% control over GM.

even if they are pre production models its not like these numbers are off at all a 3600 pound fwd car with 220hp is going to perform in that area. just like the 2900 pound 155 hp cobalt ls. A manual is not going to throw a car that runs mid 7's 0-60 into performance range. Its a nice car but if that's your example for GMs new enthuisiast's cars then GMHPV's are dead for now

did you even read the "first drives"---these were not insturmented tests
..."Buick's 0-60 claim is in the mid-7s, and that seems conservative.
...." GM says the combination should be good for a 0-60 mph time in the mid seven-second range (a couple of tenths quicker than a TSX), a claim that strikes us as totally believable if not a mote pessimistic..."
All I am saying is it's too early to judge. And 16 sec in the 1/4? I REALLY doubt that.
It has a super flat TQ curve unlike the NA 2.2L

The wagon AT THIS POINT is just a promise by bob lutz who also by the way promised the G8 would live again the caprice and would be sold to everybody remember
Honestly I AM a die hard general motors fan but I refuse to believe that they disbanded there HPV division and said they put there engineers on other more fuel efficiant projects and put the other performance projects on indefinate hold those are there words, only to open up a new HPV division in secret.

What do we call LT and LTZ Cobalts? Base models, because there is an SS Cobalt. There is no SS Cruze yet obviously, but a release said they were working on a "higher performance version", so for now I will call the 1.4/1.8 Cruzes base models.
