09 Colbalt Lt modsss
Ok, so im new to this forum if this is not the right area for this please let me know. but eithere way i have a 2009 Colbalt Lt, and i wanna make it rediculously fast. I love the supercharged and turboed colbalts, but i wanna know if i can take my colbalt and turn it to 5 speed, exhaust, supercharge, change lights around, chips etc. If someone could give me a list of things i can do to a colbalt lt to make it supernasty. that would be great!!.
I wanna super charge it but idk if i would be better off doing a swap, so please let me know waht you think about the colbalt and what i can do with it.

I'd say for ease, price and availability of parts you would be happy supercharging it. It would be fun and quick. A lot easier to find someones used parts for cheap off the lsj that went turbo.

you can run forced induction on the 2.2l. i built a 2.2 for a friends car (not a cobalt) and its right around 300whp, and id have no problem pushing the motor a lot higher if the car would take it. this is however a built motor. we ran a turbod stock motor and at around 10psi it was breaking pistons, 8psi it was just fine. so yes, its possible, lots of people have done it. this is the l61 (older 2.2 ecotec, non vvt motor), i have no idea on the newer motor in 09+. however be prepared to spend $3000+ on a turbo kit, or piecing it together. a supercharger kit would be cheaper, but your still going to spend a lot of cash on it.
as for tranny swap, thats where i would draw the line. if you want to go that far wit ha base model car, either sell it and buy a 5 speed car, or better yet, sell it and buy an SS. ive run into people that think that they can buy a base model and swap everything from an ss, or build it to be as fast as one and have the reliability the ss has, but the truth is, it doesnt happen, at least not easily.
sure you can spend $3-4000 on turbocharging your car and getting close to the same power as the ss turbo, then spend thousands more on a 5 speed, but now you have a quick base model that doesnt corner or stop well. so you spend another grand in the suspension mods to make it handle, and pile on ss brakes, and now you still have base model looks and interior. the end result is an SS would have been around the same end price, its going to be a more reliable car, and will have some resale value.
im not trying to discourage you or anyone from modding a base model, it can be very fun. judging from your first post id guess you new to car modding. the best thing to do is step back and see what you want in the end. if you want an ss/tc or ss/sc your better off trading in for one, its much simpler and more reliable.
