so im at the end of my turbo build and i have a guy coming to tune the car in 2 days, and now my car is draining the battery and not recharging it. i had a fully charged battery and brand new 2.2 alternator what could be doing this?i took the battery and had it checked and recharged.so i hooked it back up and the car is dead no power at all. i can hear a clicking sound coming from under the dash?

mabe you have a starter issue? If you have a nun stock sound system then check if a amp is staying on

Well I have had the car running a few times and when I did the battery came up on the dash.so I shut the car off and then I went to to try and start it again and nothing.I've checked all fulse's but found nothing.when u mean wired the plug do u mean the male end? Or the female end on the alternator?and I don't think the amp came on would have heard it switch on.

1. Did you swap alternators? IE buy an alternator from a 2.2L and put it on your lsj.

2. If you did, you had to cut the old plug off from the lsj alternator, and wire in a new plug for the 2.2L alternator, did you do that?

3. If you did, that means you probably wired them backwards. cut and resolder the two wires except wire them the opposite way you did originally.

I have the 2.2 on the car now. I took the plug off the 2.0 and switched it on the 2.2 so that it would plug in to the harness.

ok cool. If your battery light is on, you soldered them backwards. So switch the wires and you should be good to go. It happened to me too.

Either you have a loose battery cable (i know it sounds stupid) or your battery is shot. If it clicks like that, it means that its not gettin enough juice to turn it over. (obviously) Also check the huge red fuse in the trunk on the battery cable

ok... few questions

1. Is it a hard click, to the point where the lights shut off and the power turns off and then back on? Oorrr does it click and the power turn off and stay off.

I had my supercharger completely lock up on me. It was to the point where the car wouldn't start, because the crank was stuck. If your tensioner is wrong, or your one of your accessories on the belt locked up, it would cause a loud Click, sounding like the car wanted to turnover but it wouldn't.

If not the above, and its a quieter click, and the power stays off, check your grounds, and check the battery/power terminal under the hood. Make sure both are hooked up, and the power stick/stub/whatever u wanna call it is screwed on tight.

Those are the only things that I can think of off hand that could cause a start like that. I'm going to go home and just peek around my car and see if I can come up with some other ideas.

it sounds like a faulty power connection, or something is shorting out. Did you try jumping the car? I know it sounds stupid....

Idk man, i'm stumped. It sounds like a bad battery connection...

test light, ground the end of the test light and touch the metal prongs on the fues that protrude on the non-business side of the fuse

if it lights on one side and not the other it is popped

start the car and see how it runs first. If you still get a red battery light on, then try switching the two wires

battery with the car off hsould be reading around 12 something
battery with the alternator charging it should read 14 something
if your not getting up in the 14 range when car is running its not charging
you should be able to use your gauge to read this if not use a multi meter arbor freight sells one thats 3 bucks I have 4 or 5 of them used to keep one in all my older cars.

WOW you guys sure like to do things the hard way.

tensioner from a 2.2 $30
weld clutch on LSJ alt $15
40" 5 rib belt $30

not having to **** around splicing wires and having alt charging issues....priceless.

ditch the 2.2 alt, weld clutch, problem solved.
