AEM fi/c
AEM fi/c
I've been thinking about going supercharged sometime this summer. (Already have quite a few parts) My plan is to use the AEM fi/c for tuning. My question is: if the piggyback system is already installed, will there be an issue with the wiring setup when the supercharger goes in? In other words, will any wiring need to be moved around for a second time if I install the supercharger after the fi/c is put in?
If the answer is no, things will be greatly simplified. I'm hoping that once the piggyback is installed, it won't need to be touched again. Any input would be great.

you can leave the FIC in place. Mine is currently in place in my car, tho its not doing anything in the way of tuning at the moment. FIC values are all set to 0 and i'm trifecta tuned.
Just FYI to you guys, unless AEM fixed it, do NOT intercept the MAF signal wire. The FIC was made to run on voltage based MAF cars and since ours is frequency based, it effectively unplugs the MAF from the PCM if you try and intercept this line. I know AEM was talking about releasing a new version of the FIC that can support frequency based MAF sensors, but I dont believe they have yet. The cobalt was listed on the list of supported cars on AEM's website despite the fact that the FIC could not support MAF tuning for our cars, so you'll need more confirmation than just seeing our car under that list

i know this thread is almost a month old but has anyone had anyluck with the aem fic? i was talking to jason hunt and a few other people, as were starting to turbo my car. and they were thinking i should go with the aem fic. and i just wanted to get some input from people who have experience with them on our cars......btw i have an 08 2.2l 5spd

Besides, its not pre-boost. Its pre-PE mode, and unless you disabled PE delay, you will be in boost for a couple seconds while still in closed loop...aka engine goes BOOM!
so you're gonna drive around with the CEL then?
and im pretty sure its the front o2 sensor that is used in clsed loop. the rear o2 is only used to check for catalyst efficiency.
