Ceramic Header Coating.

Ok, my JBP noodle header is just mild steel, i opted to not have the polishing process they use applied to it, and i want to have it ceramic coated.

What kind of EGT's can i expect with a TVS and a full ported head running meth injection? I ask because i was researching Chromex, and it looks like anything above 1300* starts to degrade the finish.

I want the polished look for obvious reasons, but it our EGT's exceed that, what should i look into?

The reason CHROMEX is only rated to 1300 is due to the aluminum flake content. It is actually the reason the coating has a polished aluminum appearance; because it's aluminum. The ceramic itself will hold up to 2000 but since aluminum oxidizes at 1310 degrees, the rating is capped at 1300. Above that, the polished finish will fade to a dull aluminum. The thermal properties of the ceramic will remain but the looks will go away. You are better off going with one of the satin coatings; black, grey ice, etc. Give us a call if you are interested in sending your header in for coating: (425)251-0329.

uhmm, the JBP header is stainless, regardless of polish or not unless they made you a special header that is mild steel.

uh dur duh dur, it's not stainless. There is a process they use to give it that shine, some acid bath or spray that eats a very thin layer off the surface, leaving a shiny appearance and giving it some anti-corrosion properties. It's not stianless, it doesn't even look like stianless.
