Direct port meth a good idea? Not for me.
A few months ago i installed this setup on my hahn intake manifold.
direct port meth, 2gph each.
While tuning my car i noticed that it could only ever hold about 8 - 9 degrees timing compared to other VERY similar turbo setups on meth that could handle 13-15 degrees. I never knew why, just thought that is how my car was. Well i found out the answer today.
while stripping down my car after recently blowing it up on the dyno
I decided to do a little test on my meth setup. here is the results....
this pic is the injectors pulled straight off of the manifold and inserted into the cups and flowed, time doesnt really matter here they should all flow the same amount.
So, now i KNOW whay one of my cyls detonated and my car is now blown the **** up.
I took all the injectors apart and noticed that the screens were clean on EVERY injector.....hmmmmmm next i took the screens out and on one of them it seemed as if the actual hole in the nozzzle was obstructed somehow. I found a pin the same diameter as the highest flowing injector out of the four and it slid right through, it slid through on three of them but not the fourth one. after a couple good taps on the bench it seemed to fit through the "clogged" nozzle. i then flowed them again with NO filter screens just to see how they compared. this is the results
a lot better but i thought the results would be a lot better than this. I even changed the line routing to the injectors and the results didnt change, the lowest flowing injector still flowed the lowest amount. so the problem is NOT my hose routing.
now im undecided on what to do. keep the direct port or ditch it and just run one post TB??? my worries on running one post TB is that not all cyls will get the same amount of meth. THoughts?

take off the meth run a small direct port shot of nitrous and run 2 meth nozzles pre tb you will get more even distribution and the meth will cool the intake charge better

the throttle body space route has to give pretty even cylinder to cylinder distribution, the meth gets churned up in the turbo or supercharger, the difference cylinder to cylinder has to be fairly small. i suppose all you would need to check it is to weld o2 bungs into each exhaust primary and then hit the meth while watching the meters, my gut tells me they will all shift by the same amount simply because of how much mixing action and vaporization there is in the process.
