FWD to AWD
the sad part is i am being completely serious. It is never cost effective to try to redesign your drivetrain. If you want awd buy a wrx or a dsm or something, it will end up costing WAAY less.
i am no where near an expert on that kinda stuff but im gonna guess it wouldnt be worth the time or money to try and convert it over. i dont believe GM has and AWD cars out there so all the parts would have to be custom. then testing and all that stuff you car would probly be out for 6 months or more and cost 10gs would be my guess

haha. i guess that answers my question. ill stick with fwd. wut about the traction control the other models come with. how hard/costly would it be to put traction control on my car. or is it not even possible?
I used to live in Middletown NY lol
Anyways, everyone is correct. It's going to be a matter of having someone who is a professional doing this.
You also have to think of it this way...
No one keeps a car forever and you'll eventually want to sell it. Dealerships would give you 0 for the car, on the street, no one would want to buy it because there is no market for modified (highly modified) Cobalt. Civic, maybe...DSM, maybe...Cobalt, no. So basically, you're throwing the value of that vehicle down the drain.
You're also leaving this up to a shop that is out to make money and take your money. They could tell you anything and charge you whatever they want...so prepared to get raped.
Like said, for a private owner and street/daily driver vehicle, there is no need to do such a thing especially if you're pretty much stock and it's not cost effective at all.
So pay off your car and buy a stock AWD car if you truely want that.

if they do go to another dealership cuz they are either huge ******** or dumb as bricks
I thought about this once before, but it was centered around an A4 setup. I agree that it is possible and will cost a bunch of cash.
As mentioned earlier, I hope you dont need to drive the car.......cuz it'll take a long time to do it right.

dang you beat it to me. i was gonna say the same exact thing. if your worried about warranty why are you asking about a fwd to awd?? but, actually springs can void quite a bit. they can void your whole drivetrain. my brother told me how they void your warranty at one point but i forgot. i trust him considering hes one of the top mechanics at his Mercedes shop, went to UTI and is now master certified.
FWD car to AWD, and that's fine.
But you're afraid to throw a set of springs on it?
Wtf?
What am I missing?
