Its All-Motor......just with a Turbo.

"haha no worries I get asked that all the time.
No plans to go forced induction....it could very easily toss on a turbo and probably get it into the low 12's high 11's but its not something I really want to do.
I have nothing else planed for this car aside from maybe some more aggressive cams next year...but I would like to move on to another platform...not sure if I will keep this car or sell it.
My goal was to be the first one to run 12's in a all-motor J-body...so if I can accomplish that or even just get into the 12's (there is a bit of race for the 12's all-motor right now in the j-body community) at all I'll be happy with what this car has accomplished.
I really wanna build a S13 240, L33 swapped (5.3 "HO" GM V8 aluminum block) track car...I would like to get into competitive road course racing and I've always wanted a GM V8 swapped Jap car." 9-15-2011....i just gotta ask WTF HAPPENED? lol

Well that was the plan, but in order to run 12's I needed some new cams, cam gears and perhaps a new valve springs.
The total for all that crap would of been easily $2k.
So I originally said **** it, I'm building a V8 240, bought a 5.3 L33 and started the hunt for a clean S13 240. Well the problem with that was, there are no clean S13 240's anymore...and if you do happen to find one, the guys wants like $10k for the damn thing.
So I said **** it, sold the V8, and scraped that plan.
Then I bounced around the idea of picking up a C5 or C6 Vette for a while, bid on a few of them on eBay, couldn't get really want I was looking for, for a price I wanted to pay, so that idea got pushed back for a while as well.
Then this turbo kit came up, for a $800. Turbo was blown, but thats no big deal. So I jumped on it, between my header, extra ported TB and LE5 intake manifold I can sell now, I can basically recoup all the money I spent on the turbo kit.
So at the end of the day, this whole thing will cost me like $500-700.
Now at that price, I wasn't gonna pass it up. Sadly the car never saw 12's on the motor, but I think having a 11's street Sunfire will more than make up for that.
Update:
Got the car in the shop, ripped off the intake manifold and started to assemble my new intake manifold. Hopefully get more progress going tonight and some pictures.

Yup, I am getting mine from the passenger side passage. The line has a 45 degree fittign and then the line swings around the cold side of the turbo unkinked. See my build in my sig. Hahn has the fittings for 10 bucks each and turbo lines for a little bit more. Call Bill up, he is awesome. I bought all new stuff when I rebuilt parts of my hahn stage 5 turbo kit.

Ah perfect, I already have an autometer M12x1.75 to 1/8 npt fitting somewhere, and I can get 1/8 npt to -4 JIC (AN) fittings for free as well as all the hose.
Just picked up the intercooler from the welders, one of the mounting tabs was starting to crack.
Picked up a free 3" exhaust off my buddies old 2nd Gen Cav that I'm going to modify to fit my car, saves me a few hundred bucks.
Also, talked to the turbo rebuilder yesterday, the journal bearing was shot it got plugged up, so he is going to change that out for me and also probably put on a bigger compressor wheel, says the one on there will barely get me to 400whp, so with the new one I'll have some wiggle room if I want to go higher.
I'll be in the shop tonight, and hopefully start getting parts on the car.
As for pictures, do you mean pictures of the whole car? or build pictures?
But ya, I wanted to keep it stock looking on the outside (minus the bumper diffuser), however aside from the exterior there isn't really a stock thing left on the damn car, minus the brakes and the rear trailing arm, everything else has been replaced and upgraded.

Well I managed to get some work done this weekend, unfortunately Saturday was spent at a wedding and Sunday was spent looking at street bikes, so I didn't get nearly as much accomplished as I wanted to.
Got my header out, which is a job in itself, considering it involves dropping the subframe....which gets interesting when doing it with one person.
Got the front bumper off and intercooler bolted up.
Oil feed for the turbo hooked up.
This is how it sits now.
I also moved some wires around for the TB relocation, Intake manifold can go on anytime now, just waiting to get the rest of it installed so I don't scratch the **** out of the paint.
Boost gauge is mounted, just need to wire it in and run the lines.
Old exhaust is cut off to make way for my new 3" stuff.
So its damn close, really just finish up a few little things left, would really help if I had the turbo in hand so I can finish up the exhaust and a few other bits...I hate doing **** twice....lol
Hopefully get the meth kit installed this week/finish up the boost gauge install/remove washer tank to make way for charge pipes/modify fuel rail to plum in the extra rail.

Or insanely easy. Just move it to the trunk and bring the terminal wire to a junction point under the hood. Run your favorite brand 4 or 2 gauge wire to the truck and connect it. Get a cheap set of long bolts and batterie tie down and drill into the floor of the j-body. Bolt from bottom on the driver side recessed cubby area. Done. I had an 01 cavalier. Loved my car and had an insane stereo in it.

No need to move the battery, plus I'd rather keep the weight over the front tires.
Just need to remove the washer tank, I think guys put in a washer tank out of a Tercel, its nice and small and fits damn near factory.

Well progress has been slow this week, I just picked up a new toy...
So I've been busy running around getting that sorted out.
I'll be back at the car this weekend, expect updates then

Negative, I was gonna get one, but they are pricey.
Its a turbo car now, I'll just turn the boost up to compensate...lol

Even at 99 bucks there are a few things you could do with that money. My build is similar, VALUE based. Battery is not going to make me faster even with the few lbs its shaves. If it aint broke yet dont replace. I broke my head so I found value in a ported head and upgreaded valves. Then while I was in there I did pistons. So I understand. Only build what needs to built at the time. I agree the Bat can wait. Turn up the WICK!

Ya LS2's are pricey, you can get an L33 for like $500 and they will still make 400 at the tire with bolt-on's and a cam.
I've been lurking on that site for a long time, maybe one day I will find a clean shell and I will do this.

Well got a bit more done last night.
Finally got my turbo back (obligatory picture next to a beer can for size reference)
Also got my boost gauge installed (yes I can still see the speedo)
I got a few more odds and ends done, next step is to get the block taped for oil return and I can start getting **** on the car.
