listen man. no one knows how to take something through a computer and then i asked if that was sarcasm and you said no. so how else am i supposeto take it? im not butt hurt but i dont like bs commentary like that.

theres 2 versions of the top. a race and street version. we have the race version which has been done for awhile now. the street version is far more complex to build and thats what im assuming your getting and a lot of other sky owners are getting. i dont recoomend the race version either even with a roll bar on the street. its for a fully caged car.

so no hard feelings dude i let it go but you should consider how you word things to people.

40rty D: what the hell? You dont act like this, at least you didnt when you had the cobalt. must be how they do things on the kappa forums.

I wanna see this finished! Hopefully this is the year!

Alright, my bad dude.

As for the top. I guess I will be receiving the Street version since all I asked of my top was that the windows worked(or that they closed properly). The race version top apparently doesn't. For the Sky the top starts life as the race version top but gets modded in the rear to fit the Sky. To be honest, the reason I'm getting this top is so I can finally run bigger tracks like Laguna Seca and ButtonWillow. The S2000(For example)has rollover protection from the factory the Sky has non. This is when I started to procure about a cage and then I called Norm to ask about the top he made for Faulken. I haven't been able to do the cage because they would like to get the top in order for them to custom fab up fastners and to make sure everything fits. Norms almost done and I'm ready. As soon as this is done I'll be heading straight for a track day(Willow Springs). Not sure if this was posted already:

It has nothing to do with being/belonging on a forum. I don't even post much over there or any other Kappa forum anyways. I should have my top here soon. Once I get it, trust me I'll take pics with my DSLR of fitment and finish.

we sent norm pictures of the fitment issue we had...... its an easy fix for us because we are painting the car and what not. easy solution was to cut the quarters to the correct contour. as i said we sent norm some pics so hopefully the issue gets fixed for a way better fitting top. other then that the fitment to the widow roof and tail is pretty good. i would at very minimum put a roll bar in yours.our race version is very thin and we wont be using windows as we will be running nascar style door bars hense we we didnt wait for the steet top.

we will be using mild steel, and not chromoly (i dont have the extra funds anymore, lol).

If I'm trying to get every second that I can save in 1/4 mile, I will go for chromoly, since the cage will probably weight 30% less.........

I'm just trying to have a cage that will let me run legally in an NHRA track near me everytime I have spare time to do it.

so the mild steel will be 1 5/8 inch x .118 inch or whatever minimum size NHRA mandates for a cage.

he can start working on the main hoop, doorbars, and seatbelt bar, etc while waiting for the arrival of Norm's top.

But others such as the rear brace have to wait.

actually, if you are just going with a 4pt roll-bar, I saw on Facebook that WERKS is working on a kit that has removable rear brace, so you can still use your soft top and trunk lid (all functionality will be preserved). I saw the photo of the CAD drawings, but not the specs. I believe the trunk lid will have holes tho.
Since it has removable rear brace, it will not pass on NHRA requirements. DAVE told me that it is meant for track cars/HPDE/SCCA.........and not NHRA. I believe you will be tracking your car............if you go with that WERK's 4-point rollbar, No need for Norm's hard top anymore!

I was thinking about it........but my car is really meant for NHRA and not for SCCA, to be honest. So I have to go with a 10pt and with Norm's hardtop.

we can do it without the removeable brace 10 point is safer for sure though as it will have full support throughout. but yes a lot of guys want it for hpde scca nasa events.

I was actually thinking about NOT going with the hardtop anymore because:

1.) buying a hardtop - extra $$$

2.) rollcage build is more $$$ than a roll bar

3.) Finally, I honestly don't want to make my convertible into a coupe
The look of the car will just dramitacally change, and I really prefer the convertible esp if I will be driving it on the streets on sunny weekends here in RI.

with my set-up, I can always set it to low boost, so the big turbo will not activate, and with just the gt28 turbo working, it will be streetable..........and will be competitive in SCCA solo.....and even with HPDE.

once I become a better driver, and advance to time trials/time attacks.......I can involve the the bigger turbo.

SCCA/NASA will allow removable rear braces.
NHRA wont allow them.

after the build, I can just go straight to a NHRA track, and do a couple of slow runs to get used to with the new power. And right before I leave the track, I will just have to push the car to its max, to see what it can do in a 1/4 mile run. If I get booted out, at least I already timed my car

I really need to think about this.....and decide in a few days....

I actually agree with SKY888 on this one, it's more fun with the top down, even if the coupe looks a little better. There's just something about the sun hitting you, the wind blowing, the radio up, and tires screeching followed by a blow off .

Just called Norm. End of next week he'll ship my top. Also, I agree that iys fun to go top down every once in a while when its nice out. The exhaust note is amazing but tracking my car has been my goal since day. Ive been dreaming of seeing my time at Laguna seca.

its pretty much done.

motor already started.

BTF lives upstate NY where his house driveway goes up the hill is still covered with ice/snow. Once it clears, he can bring the car to the dyno and start tuning.

I believe we'll use E47 ....instead of c16.

BTF finished fabbing the 5" ginormous diesel cone filter!

Set up is currently producing 66lbs/min, 59VE, 360% air load, 6 deg timing, with zero knock!

Hopefully, in a week, it will be strapped into the dyno for more serious WOT!
