LSJ Headwork

Okay, well i've tried searching around in other threads and i can't find anything.

I'm wanting to reuild the top end on my 2.0L LSJ, but i can't find any options. just about everything out there is for the 2.2L. so my question is. What are the options to go with the LSJ block. And how the hell do i get an order through to the gm performance devision if i bought some stuff from them?

no one?

wow still no one

thankyou

well all i could find there were, springs and retainers, valves, and connecting rods. so i'm guessing i'm just gonna have to get regrinds on the stock cams for a higher lift

well the thing with JBP is they don't even sell the products themselves, you have to buy it from an authorized dealer. which are all in canada....i'm in oklahoma

sweeeeet, nvm. i found one that sells the JBP stage3 head. i'm set.

The Crower rods from Dezod are actually 2.2 rods. Been down this road already. The small end has to be honed and new bushings pushed in to make them work with LSJ.

You are better off placing an order for custom rods like Blown4Banger did for perfect fitment.

IMO stock bottom end can handle that, just get Neutral Balance Shafts.

If you wanna try some new stuff, you can technically get 2.2 cams, but you won't have a Cam Position Sensor, and you will need to block the oil passage in the head where the longer LSJ cam would be.

Lol, like I said, been down this road. Ordered the so called "2.0" rods, its a mistake on Crower's part. They are 2.2 rods. They can make 2.0 rods though, just need to custom order them through Crower themselves.

Making the rods work for the LSJ isn't hard or expensive, just need a little work. Any machine shop can do it.

haha it won't be a stock bottom end. every internal will be replaced with something capable of an 8k redline

but i'm sure i'll figure something out about the rods and pistons, thanks for the heads up though. any idea on how much the custom ones would cost

Honestly, probably the same. If you contact Crower directly, tell them you want the rods for the 2.0, and make sure you tell them they are in fact different than the 2.2 rods. They should have all the info to make them, as they made a custom set for Blown4Banger.

No idea. With enough money, anything can be made

Yes BUT you need to swap out other parts as well such as the hubs.

As for rods, JBP has those for the 2.0 as well.

I went through this process recently. 2.2 stuff does not always work in the 2.0 engine. There isn't much in the way of aftermarket parts for the 2.0l engine too so it was a pretty frustrating search for compatible parts

The ferrea valves and springs for the 2.2l will work though it took some machining. My builder pointed out a potential problem with the stock seat locator and the ferrea valve so he made new seat locator and valve guide with seals for them. The tech at Ferrea wasnt any help either.

Here is a pic of the stock seat locator right in the middle of the picture. that little hump at the bottom did not fit the inner spring well

head studs for the the 2.2 will work fine. Cometic has a specific gasket for the 2.0 so that's fine.

www.driveshaftshop.com will make you a custom axle. They make the axles for the US made Ariel Atom.

oh, to order GM racing parts go here and send them a message.
http://tunersource.gmblogs.com/ecote...ical_questions

I bought parts that way. Usually Carmen at GM will respond on how to order (usually money order through snail mail) very quick replies. A guy from the race team called me when they shipped my part. Very nice bunch.

Other stuff.
-I went with the crower rods for the 2.2 and had custom arias pistons made. The pistons cost $750 which isn't bad for custom
-the stock crank will take 500hp per GM, I would not worry about that one.
-per GMracing, porting wont get you huge benefits for the money you will spend. So spent it elsewhere.

As far as valve springs/seats/retainers for the LSJ... I would highly recommend SuperTech. Many people run them past 8k with out a single issue yet. I've worked on 4 motors so far with these springs and know about 5 more that use them.

Man, so many companies. I think for the top end i may just order the JBP stage3 head and all the **** they do to it, which turns out to be around $3,100USD(the place that sells them is in canada). And i also want to find some cams that have .500" of lift, so i'll probably have to have a regrind on the stock ones. But then i still need a crank (will EASILY be going over 500hp), sleeves, rods and pistons, clutch and what not....buuuutt, i may go with the 4T65E PERFORMANCE TRANSMISSION and see if either GMPP can build me and ship me one, or my local trans guy (he's f*ckin rediculously amazing) assemble one for me. then custom axels.

There is only one place to get a custom crankshaft for the 2.0 LSJ. I know because I have 2 of them but they are very pricey.
