Honestly I now think it is less stupid than I thought when first reading the article

1. Second hand M90 are very cheap
2. Run them with a high pulley where they have a good efficiency spot and you can have an unbeatable perf/ratio stuff

well, i'm speaking of running it at maybe half that what it could, if it is to make huge power and small pulleys with it, I have the same opinion as others, this is not a smart move
