Oil Squirter blockoff

I'm building a gen I LSJ block with k1 rods and diamond pistons. The stock #2 con rod was bent and the piston cracked the piston squirter damn near off. Now I have the choice of either 1) having it repaired with a tig welder 2)buying new or 3) blocking them off completely. Any thoughts or experience with blockoffs?

Possible correction? I just read that Gen I's do not have squirters. Don't know if this is true, and I can only find limited information on this topic. So according to this I must have a gen II

first generation 2.0 engines (LK9, LSJ) have oil squirters. The first generation 2.2 engines (L61, Z22YH, L42,) do not.

Alright, well either way I have oil squirters. My primary concern is oil squirter block off. I understand that it's a compromise of reliability. Anyone do it?
