Stock to TVS overnight!

ok so my friend bought a ton of stuff in the past week for his balt. it's bone stock, but he's got stage 3 heat exchanger, badmab header, zzp downpipe, stock exhaust for now, ottp 3" intake, ottp stage 3 kit - tvs, 80s, 2 step colder plugs, stage 2 belt, trans mounts and i think thats about it for now, but more will be coming very soon in the way of catback and more cooling mods. anyways question is:

Is there anything i should be expecting or anything i need to do special while installing the TVS? His car for some reason is running the 77.9mm pulley so it's got the stage 2 belt already on it so i'm thinking the SC's will swap straight out without having to change a belt. we'll install the pcm first, take the stock sc off put the new injector harness and injectors in then put the tvs and and the 3" intake on. then tomorrow putting the downpipe on. header is on backorder for a while. any words of advice would be greatly appriciated.. thanks!

IIRC it has to be clocked, i think counter clockwise, and in oiung so you just need to fab up something to keep it in place since the screw hole will no longer line up after doing so. Its been ages since ive looked at a TVS ecotec though...there might be easier ways these days

You have to modify the MAP sensor a bit and turn it. This thread has a pic of what it will have to look like to fit.

You need to cut the mounting tab so that the sensor can be rotated 40deg. Do not cut the tab completely off because a washer thru the bolt is what has to retain it

i see. thanks guys. looks like customizing the map should be the only real change other than tiny turns on the 4 mounting bolts and takin our time. should be installing the pcm, 2 step colder plugs, ottp 3" intake, tvs, and 80# injectors tonight. i'll take many pics of the works. thanks guys! lemme know if you notice anything more than i've missed.

SS3 you could be the best tuner on the planet but your ego is going to sink you.

As for the TVS install, just measure twice cut once if you know what I mean, and be ready to do some unexpected troubleshooting. Theres bound to be a stuck bolt, bad tensioner, ruined gasket/o-ring, etc. so just pay attention to everything you take apart, and be ready to hit up a hardware store just in case.

definately expecting all of that. as many times as i've been under the hood of my car and changed out parts and stuff this is definately something that can and will happen from what i've learned lol. Just gonna take our time and take it one step at a time. should be a good time and i think if we just go slow it won't take but maybe a few hours tops if all flows smoothly.

ego!!

far as ego stands.. This isnt coming into action here.. OP asked wut he could expect so i said the (TUNE ) since it is a ottp tvs 80s tune...... Canned tunes mainly have tons of issues, so i was just letting op know that he'd prob run into this!!!!!..... As far as my ego... I really dont have one, i just get pissy when people talk shi* or run there mouths to somthing they dont understand and ect. I am not at all saying this is wut your doing.... You seem like a cool dude, since most stuff we agree on......

Yeah I hear you, I'm sure you're a chill guy in person too. In fact its too bad you're not in Houston the whole week since were having a meet on Saturday.

Sometimes though, and consider this as if it came from a friend, you can be less than humble/grown up when it comes to either promoting your tuning services and/or belittling others tunes.

OTTPs canned tunes are usually off due to the gazillion variables that come into play in making a one-size-fits-all tune. You can't really fault them, zzp, hahn, etc. for trying.

Just saying they "suck ***** zomg you need to get yo **** fixed" is not going to help the OP at all.

I'm sure you know all this and I probably didn't have to say anything, but this is of course the internet and sometimes opinions slip out and get splattered all over someones well-meaning thread. :P

How much do you want to bet?

I have your tune sitting on my PC right now. Your the only person I have seen that uses a different Injector Flow Rate vs KPA for 60s compared to EVERYONE else...

That is really not something that is up for debate about what might be better then something else. ZZP, OTTP and every custom tune I have seen all have the same settings. Except yours.

Your also the only "Tuner" who makes their own custom tunes who uses the GM settings for transmission shift management. Even OTTP's "horrible" canned tunes address those tables.

IDK dude. Honestly I won't say your LSJ tune is horrible. Buts its not even close to any canned tune and not half as good as you think it.

I agree that canned tunes leave room for improvement. But I don't like to see the "Zach06CobaltSS" wannabes rip canned tunes just so they can make a quick buck tuning.

This CCSS3 guy is in every thread promoting his tuning like it is god's gift to ecotecs...
