2009 Cobalt SS Starting Issue

Hello, fellow Cobalt SS owners.

I am a new member residing in Detroit, MI. I have a 2009 Cobalt SS. It is my daily driver and is a great little car that I love. I have had the car for three years, and my brother owned the car previously which he bought back in 2010. The car currently has 151,000 miles and is still going strong, most of the time...

Recently the car has been having a starting issue that has me at my wits end here and I was hoping maybe the community on here could point me in the right direction or has any suggestions. The car has been having a starting issue where when you turn the key, it will not start. The car usually will fire and run for about a second and will gradually die. After it dies, when I try to start again it will certainly turn over, but it will just keep cranking and will not fire. If I leave the key in the "on" position, it would continue to turn over. it is really weird. This only happens about every 10-15 times that I start the car, also in the past on really hot and humid days in the summer... Also, when I pull the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and let the electrical system reset, it will start right up without any issue. The car has no check engine light as well.

I have replaced the camshaft position actuator solenoids and this cleared the issue up for about 9 months. I though that this could have been the issue, but in the past month the starting issue has returned. I also replaced the solenoids again on 01/20/2020, but four days later it would not start again, unless I pull the negative battery cable. I had read through other resources online that the camshaft actuators could have been the problem.

Could this be a fuel related issue? Has anyone else had an issue similar to this before?

If you have any questions or need additional detail, please let me know.

Thanks for your time,

Most likely if it were a fuel related issues it wouldn't be resolved by disconnecting the battery. Sounds like you've got a bad module that's having a senior moment and the resets when you disconnect the power honestly. Would explain the no codes. You need to find out what your not getting, either fuel or spark and then go further in diag
