hmmm, bout a year ago i switched to google photo for my image hosting as what i was using before would expire the links. ill have to look into it, maybe the same thing is happening.

 

probably. i've had difficulty getting the google photos links to work at all. i end up just downloading then uploading to this site.

If you create a folder and set it to public on your Google drive, you can simply link the URL of the folder to here either pasting the full URL as is, or hyperlinking text

 

the only problem with hosting here is i have posts on a couple other forums and they dont have photo hosting, so i still gotta make it work on those sites.

cant leave anything alone. im starting to think about painting the car and i have some small body mods planned, and one of them is getting rid of the hood scoop. i was trying to figure out what i can do to get the valve cover under a flat hood, and long story short its not gonna happen. however in the process i discovered something i never even thought was possible, and thats putting an lsj valve cover on the l61 head. i had to mod my l61 valve cover a bunch to run the lsj coils and there is no way to keep the coils dry (stupid hood scoop), so this is gonna be a win all around.

my friend that does powder coating had an lsj valve cover he coated for a guy years ago and never got picked up, so i grabbed that and made a couple mods. first off was adding a -12an fitting for my catch can, along with removing the nipple from the factory breather and plug the hole. also because the valve cover had previously been blasted and powder coated the baffles had been removed and were missing. i built a simple baffle around the -12 fitting, its far from the factory breather system thats in our valve covers, however running no pcv and a catch can im not really worried if its not the most effective baffle.




now for the interchange issue. the valve cover will physically bolt onto an l61 head without issues, all the bolt holes line up, the issue lies in the end of the valve cover. both cams on the lsj go through the end of the head, the exhaust cam has the bolt on cam sensor housing and the intake cam is blocked off. on the l61 head the exhaust cam is shorter and the head and valve cover go straight across. the end result is putting an lsj valve cover on the l61 leaves a semi circle hole open. the fix is a rubber half circle plug used on many different engines for this exact thing. the only info i could find about what to use was "something from a dsm". thats a little wide open, so i went to the local pick a part and scrounged around. when i think dsm i think early 90s 2.0 turbo, the plugs i found on them may have worked, but seemed quite small for the task. a later 420a engine had an aluminum plug un the head, however it was also too small. long story short i found a plug very close to what i needed in a 1985 hyundai pony, the rest of it will be made up with a bead of silicone.




hoping the weather will clear up tomorrow and i can swap the valve cover over. im still waiting on a coil cover to show up that i bought on ebay.

 

 

yea it was a mitsu engine for sure, a 4g32 according to wikipedia. its 5 years too old to be considered part of diamond star motors (first dsm sold in 1990), but i would still call a hyundai pony a dsm, seems like it would **** the dsm guys off.

actually, it would be kinda fun to cram a 4g63 into a pony. wait, actually scratch that, it would always be broken, cause dsm

 

Just enjoy it for awhile and slow down on thinking about throwing more money at it. You can do that in a year. You have done well.

 

the car is insured till october 8th, and ive already got a list of things to do over winter.

-baffle the oil pan better. maybe do a kickout, a little more volume would be nice.
-ceramic coat the turbo manifold
-move the oil pressure sending unit to a different oil galley
-final drive gear swap, providing i can find a 944s2 gear set
-engine management, get rid of the microtech and put a different system in, still not really sure what yet
-build a sheet metal intake manifold

 

Well at least you won't have to worry about what you will do in your spare time.

 

i never seem to have spare time lol.

got the valve cover on last night. my coil cover hasnt show up yet so i had to steal the one of the cobalt for for the picture, and also to make sure it actually cleared the coil packs. being the lsj runs a standard 3/4" reach spark plug, and every other ecotec runs a 1" long plug, i had to space the coils up 1/4" for the lsj coils to work correctly.



ive gotta get the car cleaned up in the next week and a half, i got roped into taking the car to the big annual cruise in that happens where i am. in the past its drawn in over 1000 cars and 50,000+ people. i cant say my car is show quality, but its a chance for me to show off my hard work, and maybe **** off some porsche owners lol. thats on the 8th, and ive decided on the 14th im gonna take the car to the friday night street legal drags and see what it will do. should have my new helmet here sometime this week, i figure ill need it (if the car doesnt go fast enough for me to need a helmet im gonna smash my head into a wall, so i should still have it).

 

I sure would think that car is gonna run at least a 13.90 with ease.

 

13.9 requires a helmet? I ran a 13.9 once without one
