Not feeling it.

The 6th gen SS is just as fast, gets better MPG, and can be had for about the same price? Why bother with a used ZL1? Just wanted something different?

But it doesn't have a blower.

Yeah I would think the Zl1 would be significantly faster than the SS without a blower. I mean you are talking 415hp vs. 650hp. Now if the SS had a blower that would be awesome IMO.

Oh I didn't realize the older ZL1's had less power than current model year. That's still a big power difference. Are there factory stage kits for this that allow you to pulley down but keep the warranty?

I don't like the look of the 6th gens, and the 6th gen SS are a dime a dozen around my area.

I don't care about MPG.

I don't care about what car makes what power.

It's the car I always wanted... period.

The 5th Gen ZL1 was put through the paces by GM @ Michigans Milan Dragway, and was able to crack a 11.97 @ 117 mph 1/4 mile time stock.

Most magazines were low 12's. It is capable of high 11's stock.

6th gen SS are low 12 sec cars as well, but they are just not as exciting. There are tons of them around. I like the rarer ZL1 and of course the supercharger.

No stage kits are available.

The 6th gen SS weighs around 3700-3800lbs. The 5th gen ZL1 is 4000lbs. That's the main reason they are close. Stock manual ZL1's make 500whp on average stock. Stock 6th gen SS's make around 400-410whp stock.

yeah i know they shed quiet a few pounds on a 6th gen SS but to me its not a zl1 lol. plus a 5th gen zl1 to me is a hell of a deal! its already boosted, you dont want to worry about buying a turbo, procharger, or supercharger like you would for an SS. so to me this is an awesome buy man and i cant wait for you to share everything

I agree. Thanks man.

Plus out in the real world, a 6th gen SS will have a hard time with a 5th gen ZL1, regardless of magazine times.

my point exactly lol. another thing that youll have over them is your 5th gen is just as clean as a brand new 6th gen sitting in a showroom lol. so your 5th gen will always be cleaner then 95% of the 6th gens

Glad you like it. I drove one just like that a few years ago. It had the silver wheels though and looked great. The size is what makes it look so menacing, the gen 6 is smaller overall but still looks great.

Something about a supercharged v8 does something that no amount of turbos can match for me

While we're on the subject, here's our 2016 2SS Convertible 6M:

I know exactly how you feel about always wanting that model. I'm the same way with the 2002 35th anniversary, and I will own one someday.

YES. They had an anniversary edition of that too, but it was yellow. Not my color. They look sick in black. The problem is finding one that’s stock, low miles, 6-speed and clean.
