I'm looking to replace the stock 5spd knob on the 08 Cobalt. The shifter is attached with that funky release mechanism. The shaft is not threaded.

Q) Are there any other GM shift knobs that are compatible with a stock 08 shifter?

I'd prefer a leather knob.

I really don't want to mod the shifter or replace it. I simply want a nicer feeling & looking shift knob. It wouldn't surprise me to if a vette or other shifter was compatible. I just don't know of any.

BTW ... Gas mileage on this XFE is running ~37 to & from work in a mix of stop & go & highway commute. Gotta love that & for the price of a Prius you can get two Cobalts

You have to look at manufacters web sites to see what knobs are compatible.
Momo makes a "S" series knob that is compatible
They have to have a knob that works with reverse lift systems

non F/I cobalts and g5's dont have the reverse lockout....only the ss/sc and ss/tc have that

 

i just started looking for a knob for my 07 ss n/a that will go on w/out any modifications. anyone know of any? i been lookin w/ no luck.

 

mine is a 08 lt.
