19 inch wheels and drop
Hey guys,
I am going to get some 19x7.5 wheels with 225 rubber. These are going on a g5 se model with the 4x100 bolt pattern. Will I need to drop the car after this? If so, how much?
Thank you,
Adam

agreed
I agree. I used to have a tsx on 19's. I had the car lowered 2 inches and it looked hot. Just curious to know if I wanted a similar look. What drop would be needed?

Ya his car does look tight. Man I remember back in the day that if you had 17's you were blingin' lol. I have a black g5 se that is a lease with hubcaps. I just want something to make it look a little more slick. Bu tasteful.

Bigger diameter wheels does not raise the ride hieght of your car unless you go with larger OUTSIDE diameter tires/ In other words you can make the wheel as big as you want as long as you keep the rolling diameter the same as stock. This will also keep the speedometer working properly.
Your gonna be running low profile tires not super swampers.

Trying to get to photobucket so I can post a few pics....the .mil i am on is being gay.
My name on there is doc_ss, check out the cobalt ss folder
I added a rear strut bar and ever since the outer edge of the tires rub occasionally...It only happens if I take a corner aggressively.

the best way to measure it is this
mark a line on your tire and the road, roll the wheel one complete revolution, measure that
do the same thing for the new set...compare the distance...usually a 2% difference is acceptable.
Now when I upgraded to 20 inch wheels, they are real close the the stock wheels (with tires) so my speedo is really close.

I have a site that converts this...its on my laptop, in the other classroom....lemme see if I can do this in my head..
112.75 to 96.75
Dimension
Tire A: 205/55 R 16 (25 x 8.07 x 16)
Width 8.07" (205.00mm)
Sidewall height 4.44" (112.75mm)
Overall height 24.88" (631.90mm)
Circumference 78.16" (1985.17mm)
Tire B: 215/45 R 16 (24 x 8.46 x 16) Difference
Width 8.46" (215.00mm)
Sidewall height 3.81" (96.75mm)
Overall height 23.62" (599.90mm)
Circumference 74.20" (1884.64mm)
Difference
Width +0.39" (+10.00mm)
Sidewall height -0.63" (-16.00mm)
Overall height -1.26" (-32.00mm)
Circumference -3.96" (-100.53mm)
If your speedometer has been calibrated for 205/55 R 16 (25 x 8.07 x 16) tires, replacing them with 215/45 R 16's (25 x 8.46 x 16's) would result in the speedometer reading high by 5.33%.
Same as with the speedometer, if your odometer has been calibrated for 205/55 R 16 (25 x 8.07 x 16) tires, replacing them with 215/45 R 16's (24 x 8.46 x 16's) would result in the odometer reading high by 5.33%.
