35w vs 55w HIDs. Whose running 55w and in what?
Title says it all. Im ordering Gen 4 projectors at the beginning of next month and wanted to run 55w HID's. But I am concerned about the heat from them. Anyone currently running 55w HIDs? And in what lights?
I wanted to run 55w 8000k (similar to 35w 6000k) in the mains and 35w 6000k in the fogs.
If you have pics of your 55w HID's in a projector setup post up pics!
So lets hear opinions!

Are those gen 3s or 4's? Bit hard to tell. Hows the light output with those 55's? any nights shots. Looks good. Im guessing thats a 6000k kit?
they are the 2nd gens.. the light output is awesome and i miss them lol.. right now i have my stockers on until i get relays. and yeah i would say they are 6000k in color. they are definately brighter then a 35w kit.. at least from my own experience.

55W is what I want just wondering how the gen 4's would handle the heat.

And all DDMtuning HID kits are lifetime warranty on the HID kit. But at 40 bux if they last a year or 2 im happy!
35w for me.
although one of my bulbs seems to be visibly lighter than the other.
im a HID nub. does that mean its dying? or just shitty bulb? i cant afford to have one conk out randomly

It is likely just a difference in the projectors. Usually if a HID bulb is on its way out, it changes color. It tends to go from whatever color you ordered to some other color. Say if you had white 4300K bulbs, and the one started changing to purple or something.

crap. that means one of mine are going out? .. i got 6000k and one of them is going a lighter purple/pink color
The color shift is known as "Color Cycling" and is usually the signs of death for the HID bulb.
I have been running 55W 6000K for about 6months now in stock housing (dont flame) without any problems. Ordered from vvme.com
With my tax money I will be getting Gen 4's and plan to stick with the 55W 6000K, but the H7 bulb.

not to sound like i know it all but i would suggest that you guys use relays so you dont overload the stock wiring.. trust me, it wont happen overnight but over time it WILL burn up your stock wiring.. i should know lol.
Im running 55w 6000k in my gen 1's and love them. i also have 35w 6000k in my fogs and they match damn near perfectly to the headlights. i went from 35w 8000k in my headlights to the 55w 6000k and the difference is unbelievable. the 55w 6000k are sooooo much brighter and crisper.
the 35w should have no problem with stock wiring but the 55w could... inefficiencies in the ballasts mean that a 55w light output is probably pulling something like 70w or more worth of power and once you add the startup current that is pulled for probably less than .1 sec you'll eventually get insulation damage and "burn up the wire"
