After market 9007 bulbs
After market 9007 bulbs
Has anyone replaced their stock 9007 headlight bulbs yet... i use to have silverstars on my 01' galant but they didnt last too long. Im looking for the HID wannabe bulbs. I know they seem cheap but for the price I think they look pretty nice. either something really bright white or white with a blue tint.

Make sure you get some that pulls the stock wattage ~55 low / ~65 high. Anything higher you will probably ruin your leads to the box. Unless you wanna upgrade your entire wiring harness.
BTW, I've had good luck with Sylvania SilverStars in the past. They run just a tad higher than stock wattage but well within compliance with the wire load.

they were some from pepboys in the clear container with a blue foil background like $40 a set and when they worked they looked awesome very blue and bright but then they melted my stock harnesses so i got high power harnesses and they melted those as well then my stock headlights back in and never worked the same
I have used the silverstars without a problem , Make sure with any Bulbs you buy , That you DO NOT Touch them with your hands , The oil shortens the life quit a bit , use a clean dry cloth to handle the bulbs ..
i had the piaa extreme whites in mine, for about 3 months. then one of them went bad, lost the low beam, but the high beams on both still worked fine. luckily, they have a 1 year warranty on them. put in silverstars when the piaas went bad, i think they're a little less bright, but at least they've lasted longer.
I was looking at the Streetglow Xenon 9007's rated at 100W/80W but that might be too hot for the harness; I know they make upgrade harnesses for the Cavy's b/c at one time all the power went through the switch and this created a problem; I dunno how the Cobalt's are wired or how much sustained wattage they can handle; Streetglow and Hella also have Xenon bulbs in the OE wattage as well.
Streetglow.com and Hella.com I think??!!

The PIAA's are more of a blue/white color... where as the Silver Star's are just bright white...
Get the PIAA's on e-bay.... I paid $60 for mine shipped.... they go for $100 retail around here...

Yeah... I must say... those headlights are such a pain in the ass to get out.... wow... who the heck came up with that?
But anyways.... the PIAA's look awesome... nice and clear white... no yellow tint... I'll get some night shots this weekend and post up.
Check e-bay for these lights... they're normally $100 but you can grab 'em for like $65 shipped.
