Am I missing something??

For as long as I can remember, I have had my spare tire threaded bolt sticking up thru my trunk mat about a 1/4 inch. I dont ever remember having a plastic piece that screws onto it from the top though to protect stuff in the trunk from it. I went to the junk yard the other day to see if I could find what I was looking for and none of them have it either. I was just wondering if we ever had a piece that covers up the bolt or if my trunk mat is sagging and I need a new one. A cavalier I looked at in the junk yard had one and I was debating about taking it, but I would have had to cut a hole in the mat to make it fit. So what Im asking is does this piece exist or should I look elsewhere for a solution??

Carpet should fit over the top of everything.

Sounds like the the threaded bolt is too long? Hack saw? Had two Balts it definately fits over without issue. That cavalier one sounds promising especially If you shorten the rod it will just sort of hold up the carpet if it is sagging. Gl
