I want to go duals. Not because the SRT4 has duals, but because I like duals. Any way, heres an old pic a played with in paint. The "photoshop-wannabe-paint-edited" pics aren't the best but its what I am capable of doing.
A. Original

B. Duals with just a new cut-out

or C. Duals with a rolled lip (cut out the center of our OEM lip)

I'm a v8 guy, actually a mustang guy. On my 5.0 I have dual flowmasters and love 'em. But it's a v8.
4cyl = single
some v6 - v8s = duals
But to your effort, it's doesn't look bad. I just hope the sound is just as nice.

^^ Yah I hear ya too...
I am one of the two SS's in my town.... but WE HAVE BILLIONS of 2.2s. 4 of which are RED and look basically just like mine... same wing, but lil smaller wheels, minus ss kit.
But to the average person my ss and the other red ls look the same... I personally think the wing is what does it the most, but that's just me.

Too many 4cylinders are coming with duals anymore for that to be a limiting factor.
Besides all the F-bodies after 1974 had fake duals and it worked great for them! Its just for looks, everyone knows it, and it looks great IMO! Hell I had duals on my 04 Cavi.! All the flow of straight pipe with none of the noise! WIN WIN!

I never thought of Bandits Trans Am as being rice.
stupidest thing i've heard today on here (which is really saying something) duals on any car regardless of cyls is not needed...and rice is such a stupid term anymore
....you all overuse the term "rice"
But on a Forced Induction car (more so a turbo application vs a supercharged) Dual Exhaust (even a Y pipe) is better than a single exhaust unless granted you keep the same size exhaust pipe.
But in short, "rice burners" might sound loud, and alot of you are rice in your own way. But, keep in mind, im going to laugh when your souped up Camaro, or Mustang gets whooped when a 400+whp civic comes roamin by you.
And 400whp isnt to far off with civics or any import, granted its turbocharged with other supporting mods.
In short, I like the duals with the regular oem cutout style. Im doin the same to my 2.4, im gettin the stock cutout manipulated on the other side and doing a Y pipe settup.

I like option C because it gives the car a completely different look which is cool. Option B isn't bad either it just looks like it came that way from the foctory which doesn't make it stand out as much in my opinion.
^^I just opened the picture with paint then took the paint brush (black) and painted over what I wanted to delete. As for the tip, I highlighted it, copy and pasted it, and flipped the coppied image.
^^ That's what I was thinking. it's simple.
I've noticed that nearly every car that has duals from the factory has the piping converge into one pipe before splitting again. It doesn't make sense to me but if it works then why not.

well, for v8 or any v-setup engines, it's a good idea to have both exhaust pipes coming out of the engine converge at some point in order to equalize the pressure between both banks of cylinders. plus, one pipe takes up less room than two pipes, so by combining both pipes into one, then re-splitting it at the end, this takes up less space along the bottom of the car.
That's what I was thinking today when I was pdi'ing a silverado today.
