Any troubles with tints?

I'm looking to get my car tinted, but i'd like to find out how many people, if any have had problems with cops for their tints. Obviously i want to go somewhat lower than the legal limit, so please only respond if you have tints or knows someone that has tints lower than the legal limit.

I have been stopped a couple of times and I tell the cop I have severe estigmatism of the eyes and tinting is the only way I can drive at night.

It's illegal to tint your windows here in Illinois, but I'm going to do it anyway. My brother just rolls down his windows when he sees a cop. He knows a guy from an auto glass place, so the couple of times he's gotten a ticket for it, he just has him write up a fake receipt saying they took the tints off.

an estigmatism of the eye is when an eye is not as round as it should be causing your eye when driving at night to be pulled away from the direction you are looking in caused by some ones headlights in your mirror causing your eye to flutter among other things. I find with tinted glass I now donot have any problems driving at night as a matter of fact my work had my work truck tinted for me.

In Indiana the "legal" % is 30%. I have 20% and have never been bothered by the police. Once I was stopped in Ohio, the cop "informed" me of the tint laws in his state. He checked my license & registration (make sure I was from IN) and told me 'to have a nice day."

I have a f-150 that has 5% which is pretty much as dark as you can get all the way around it on top of the factory tint plus I have my full front windshield done with 20% and a 5% eyebrow it is so dark you can stand in front of the truck and cant see me sitting in it and i have been stopped several times for speeding and other stuff and they have never said anything about my tint. Im fixing to have my cobalt done the same way.

I get a lot of dirty looks for mine especially at night but they've never once pulled me over. Make sure you really know the tint laws in your area before you go ahead with anything though just to be safe .

I have 20% on both my cars, and have lived in IL for 4 years and have never been pulled over for my tints. Knock on wood I dont drive in such a way to draw attention to myself.

It totally depends on your local laws. Check with a tinting place, and I bet they could tell you for sure what % of tint you can have with out getting hassled.

Around here, I'm pretty sure its %17 MAX in driver and front passenger windows, no tint on windsheild.

edit: I was totally wrong, its %30 legal here, and legally, you cant have any tint in front or on the sides of the driver.

I have tints that are illegal and have been pulled over for other things and never a word about the tints. I even brought it to the police station with the tints for another fix it ticket and noone questioned it. IMO you have to be a dick to the cop for him to get **** and give a tint ticket ( in my area atleast)

As I am considering tints myself, what would you consider to be the best idea?

A) Get tints all around, and get tickets
B) Get tints on all windows except driver, passenger, and portion of windshield
C) Better not to tint at all

i got pulled over and got a $100 ticket for my tint (i pleaded guilty but never took the tint off). I didn't even get the write off sheet. State Troopers suck. The guy said he pulled me over because i had tinted license plate covers, but there was no ticket for that just the tint...hmmm. So heads up.

When I see a cop, i pull open my sunshade and crack my windows to let light in. Also, i got pulled over a billion times when I had my show s10 and i just made sure i had my windows rolled down before he got to my car so he wouldnt notice.

Even cars that I have bought that came with the back done, I have had the front tinted to match. In my opinion half tint looks really stupid, I would rather have none, the just the back done.
