That looks really good, Cowboy. What has gotten into you these days? At the rate you're upgrading, I think your Cobalt will be self-aware by the end of the year!

Hmm quick question - what did you reseal the lights with? and how long did it take? also what did you use to clean the surface where the old sealant was?

i resealed the lights with Permatex black scilicone adhesive sealent. i used black in case it got on the bezel.

took about 5 hours total per light.

First - heat oven to 200 and bake the housing (all lights removed) for 25 min.

Second - pull housing apart. with my bake method it pulls straight apart no tools needed.

Third - sand all the chrome paint off. if you dont your **** will flake eventually.

Fourth - prime the bezel with paint adhesive, 2 coats. Dupli-color makes this stuff.

Fifth - paint your body color or black, again at least 2 coats. Dupli-color makes all the gm colors.

Sixth - Clear Coat with dupli-color, 3 coats. let the clear coat set before you touch it.

Seventh - heat oven to 200 and rebake the painted housing and lens seperately but at the same time being carefull not to get adhesive on the fresh paint.

Eight - pipe the new sealeant into the track and press the lens and housing together, tightly.

you're done.

i did not clean the old gray stuff off the housing back. it shows through a little and does not match my black beauty. which is the reason i want to redue this project with a new set of lights. i found that 3m makes a product that removes the adhesive. i used it during my project but did not have enough to completely clean my light housings.

hope this helps.

or you can get the silver xtremes from our forum vendor vision bulbs and instead of having a bluish bulb in there, you can have a silver one in there that blends with the housing.

you can see it in the top of the black part of my old headlights. they look a bit darker because i went with full black up there
