No way keep the strips where they are!! it looks good. to you have a front and front off to the side shot?

edit never mind I found it in your gallery. nice job. really ties the wing in. I like it.

EDIT #2 - now seeing the rest of the car I can see why you want to try this. personally I would paint them blue. but you could see how it ties in white I guess. I might be surprised.

I didn't make them totally white since with them being recessed it would never look truely white in any natural lighting.

Thanks alot guys actually im thinking about seeing if i could buy a set of inserts and painting them white to see if i would like it or not. I dont know i'll probly just leave them the way they are.

here's another one, a bit whiter, I did this on my car so I could have a higher res source image, plus a bit better angle for this.

lol yah i took it off cause i plan on drilling holes for the bottom 2 screw holes for the license plate so it dont rattle at the time, it gets annoying.

I think it makes the grille really pop. Beware though, you might be running into the same problem that I'm running into: the need to paint stuff purely for the sake of change. I can't stop myself! I need to mod but I have NO MONEY!!!
