Carbon fiber front lip (Cobalt SS 05-07+)

There was a previous thread related to this and has not been updated in a timely fashion (or at all) in a long time. I am therefor taking project management and going to being sourcing the pricing, design, and production of this. I have emailed a well known and quality company (also from the previous thread) Allied Composites, asking for designs and quotes. The email follows; I will be updating this at least once a week if not more depending on communication. This is simply a measurement of interest, if we get to a production stage, I will be signing up as a supporting vendor and formally taking orders.

Dear George,

My name is Ryan Klein and I am looking to get a project started (or taken over) for a quote, design, and production of a carbon fiber front lip for a Chevrolet Cobalt SS (year 2005 - 2007+) body style. I know there have been past inquires but I would like to start this fresh and help to manage this from start to finish. Please contact me at your earlyest convenience to start discussing designs and starting prices for an order of between 20-50 - Thank you for your time.

Regards,

Ryan Klein

Awesome idea, but dont talk about selling anything on here in mass prodcution unless you are a supporting vendor or they are gonna lock your thread so just say this is a possible prodcution of the lip not a sales thread

It seems the general interest would be one going over the current (mini) lip that we have. I have seen pictures of one below the current lip and wasn't to fond of it, your thoughts?

Ryan

I would like to see something molded similar the the production lip as opposed to a flat sheet of CF with a curve that bolts onto the bottom of the bumper.

like this:

Reign, I couldn't agree more. JRelly, I am thinking about that, I will have to find out though. As to our stock lip, how is it held on? I haven't looked to much into it (its 12:15 am here) and I have been attempting to get the headlight back in its bracket properly!

As to the image of the WRX, what about that but maybe 1/2" or 1" further out?

Regards,

Ryan

A direct replacement for the OEM would be great.

I believe the stock SS/SC lip is held on with clips & screws... if you wanted it to be something that all cobalts could use you would have to make it mountable with screw & body tape. Also it would have to come up far enough to cover the slits in the ss/sc bumper from the stock lip

Does the 2.4 have the same front lip/bumper as the SS? I wasn't sure it if it did and was leaning towards no.

Ryan

Yes bumpers are the same, the only difference is that the 2.0 bumper has slits cut across the front for the lip. (then 2.4 does not have a lip)

2.4:

I'm sorry, but that lip is ugly.

Either keep it direct OEM replacement or nothing at all.

if you notice the pics above that is what i dont want, some flat piece of CF stuck to the bottom the for bumper... I want something custom molded that mounts to the car and looks proper, not just stuck on.
