my stock hood was 42 lbs. my cf hood was 17.5
So yes, lighter.
betweenthe two your looking at maybe 40 lbs savings?
(and remember its est every 100lbs saved is 0.100" in the 1/4)

lulz. we are actually talking about sanding the clear to make it look like a dry carbon on only the raised portion of the hood.

not sand it flat all the way, just sand down the clear coat to make it look dry lol

No, but the sun will bleach and it will eventually dust away

Raw unfinished carbon fiber on anything driven on the street ranks up there with some of the not so smartest things I've heard.

What's everyone's opinion on carbon fiber hood/truck lid on a black cobalt? Ive been considering looking into it but I'm wondering if its really worth it since it wont be as noticeable

I'm getting a carbon fiber hood for my car but I'm painting it black. I'm going to leave a little cut out of a design somewhere so if people really look, then they'll know it's carbon fiber. Personally, I wouldn't leave carbon fiber unpainted on a black Cobalt. I think it looks odd but I'm sure there are some that can pull it off.
