That'll look very nice on my Silver SS. Then again, I'd rather have the hood from SEMA, I think it was. The functional ram air. *drool*

Wow, those prices look really good. I don't really know the American market, but to me 500 bucks looks super cheap for 19" wheels. I like the looks of them in silver with the silver rim, I'd take them over the SS stock wheels any day!

Good eye Jonel, I noticed that too... I really like the front bumper. I'm not into the side skirts though.

Thumbs up email i wrote to them!!!

Hi im really interested in the 05 carbon fiber hood for the chevy cobalt SS
2.0 L .im getting the car whenever GM decides to release it lol, but my
question is..... is it OEM direct bolt on --> meaning i dont have to put
those stupid hood pins on i really hate them
also what is difference between dual layer and single layer im thinking
about gettign a dual beacause it sounds more stable thank your very much
chris monaco also when will you be gettign brake kits for it i really want a
13" rotor!!!!! thanks

Yes, it is a direct bolt-on replacement. It takes @ 15 minutes to install
it, and 10 of it is simply lining the hood up before tightening the bolts.

I have the hood on both Gravana Cobalts (Coupe & Sedan). Both cars have
been run up over 90MPH with no problems. However, most hood manufacturers
state "Hood Pins Suggested" as a disclaimer required by their insurance
companies.

The double-sided hoods are the way to go. The underside is Carbon Fiber
line the top and it is sweet!

Jim

So im happy no stupid hood pins i hate them!!!!

According to Jim @ Gravana, they will have a C/F Turbo Sport Hood, C/F trunk lids and some C/F engine parts out in March. I hope the engine parts are cheaper than their Ecotec engine cover - Whoa!

They are also looking for ideas from owners on different hood styles and another body kit style to build. I love the Ingz(?) kit on their white sedan!

Save your money...the car already does 60-0 in 115' which is stellar stopping power as it is. Not to mention you're adding additional rotating mass to the already big 18's. Want to stop faster? Get wider tires. Really, the only feasible upgrade in the brakes would be to get slotted rotors the same diameter as stock as it'll help you brake past the 100MPH mark if you plan to autocross your car or do high speed runs.

I'm with you. Carbonfiber is so over done. I don't even pay attention to cars with Carbonfiber hoods anymore. I want to see something orginal. I want to see orginal ideas, not copies of every Honda out there.

I think that carbon fiber hoods look sweet on black cars... or dark grey but definitely not on lighter colours. Unpainted carbon-fiber body kits are a$$ - IMHO anyways.

Im sorry but a carbon fiber hood isnt a good idea if you have performance in mind. Getting rid of weight in the front isnt a good thing in a front wheel drive. Traction is already a problem for the redline and it will most likely be the same with the ss. And please dont turn your cars into ricers, they look fine stock so you dont have to put bodykits and carbon fiber hoods on em.

not to encourage them, but for drag racing lighter all together means faster times, yes you need weight upfront, but if you can drop 150 lbs on your car with some carbonfiber, you will be faster.

just paint it.

and I don't like ricer cars either but if they want crazy body kits, it is thier car and they can do what ever they think is cool. if it wasn't for ricers the old turbo stangs would be the only 4 banger perfomers in the states. but you would never see my car like that. i think it is super lame to have an 8 ft wing ont he back of a front wheel drive car, the the guys that buy 2 rims an put them on the back and take the hub caps off the front stokers crack me up!

That is why we offer our hoods both in Carbon Fiber and in Fiberglass. We've seen some really cool paint scemes out there utilizing the carbon under the paint.

Carbon Fiber as I see it isn't "Rice" it's 100% American, developed by Americans for the use in our space program. It's automobile use started with formula one and Indy cars to help strengthen Fiberglass in the 60's.

But alas, someone had better call Chevrolet to tell them the new 500 HP C6 Z06 that uses carbon fiber body panels is "Too Rice", "Overdone" and "...copying Honda".

LoL nice, i agree though, thats very true. I'm gonna tell my dad that tomorrow that the Vette is rice......lol he didn't let me buy an EVO because it was a jap car ("rice"). Honestly though, hes right, its just opinionated and judgemental to call carbon fiber "rice", if you really wanted to add in intake headers and exhaust into that because alot of those "ricers" put that stuff on too lol. Oh and rims, rims are rice now lol. I'd be glad and thankful for carbon fiber and fiberglass hoods available, i am, i'm ordering a fiberglass one and having my dealer put it on as soon as my SS gets here before i pick it up.

Does anyone know the exact specs on the weight of the stock SS hood, and the CF one? Just trying to check exactly how much weight you're shaving off.
