CF hood fix

Just got a CF hood. One corner has a little nick. I was wondering if I can buy somekind of clear that I could possibly apply on this corner so it doesnt ruin the hood.

I am also worried that this woul lead to the clear comming off the hood at other places? anyone have any info on Carbon Fiber?

ANYONE? someone must have some experience with CF.....

Yes, I have lots. I manage a collision center.

(1) Carbon fiber hoods do not come with clear coat on them. They are "gel coated" Same stuff used on boats.

(2) You cannot just dab a little clear on something. It has to be mixed with the proper activators and reducers and then atomized through a spray gone.

(3) Do not worry about it. A little nick is not going to cause you any problems. Treat it as if it were a rock ship. One little chip does not ruin the whole thing.

You can clear anything. Putting extra clear coats makes the car shinier and is a bit more of a protectant for the paint.

I was more concerned if the clear would yellow the gelcoat or if it was aok

This is true in most cases, however we DO provide clear coat on ALL our cf products. In fact we use top quality PPG clear coat. Not only do we provide clear coat, but the resin we use is 100% UV stable. All of this, at or around the same price as our competition!

mine came with a huge crack in the inside of it--and my cf trunk is starting to rub my rear bumper where it meets--some white mini scratches. i guess they made it just a tad too long. i need to find some way of buffing this out
