i know its BS. I guess carbon fiber is in high demand right now that's why the price is high.

its stupid to pay that much , i remember a few years ago i had a 99 cavalier with cf hood and paid $400+like $125 sh so $525 shipped but $900 damn who wants to pay that when you can get a 4-piece body kit for that lol seriously they need to come down on prices or we should get a group buy together and get em for cheaper or something

Where r u finding $800-$900 hoods? OEM CF are usually around $400 then anything with function is a $200 more or so. The biggest rip off is shipping. Its not costing them $180 to ship out a hood. I sent a cobalt front bumper cross country UPS Ground for $9.00 @ a 40% discount. I know its a bit different but still. As long as its under 72" u can ship it UPS. Yea the cf prices are up but the shipping is way up there too.

later

I agree, the shipping price is out of control. $180 all because it has to be shipped by "freight".

The price isn't because of any shortage of CF. That was a long time ago. The reason you pay that much for some hoods is because they are actually made well and have CF weave on both sides and they fit well. The cheaper ones are just that...cheaper.

btw i think there is only one hood with cf on both side, which is the oem cf.... hood companies dont make doubble sided cf becaus they are pretty pointless

Limited production keeps prices high as well. When things first come out and are not mass produced, they are expensive. Take for instance, a carbon fiber hood for a honda civic can be easily had for a cheap price because it is mass produced, whereas a nice hood for a newer vehicle such as the Cobalt etc. that has a limited market will be much more expensive. Just the law of supply and demand.
