CF items

I have a few questions about the CF items available for our cars.

I was looking at Xcelerated Concepts trunk and hood. I want the OEM look so no fancy hoods. And I love how they delete the third brake light and the keyhole. They have very reasonable prices also.

My questions are..

1. Does Xcelerated Concepts use gel coat or clear coat? I have heard gel coat sucks ass and I plan on keeping it on all the time as it's my daily driver, including winter.

2. Some guy bought a VIS, (I believe it was), and had to drill his own holes for the reverse lights and crap.. Is this the case with the Xcelerated Concepts trunk?

3. Does anyone make an OEM CF lip for us yet?

Gel coat is something different used for bodykits and whatnot ... 99% of carbon products use a poly resin.. Getting anything u buy from vis or concepts it's a general good idea to get them clear coated t, it will last much longer and when it does fade u can do the same process .. And no one makes a stock carbon lip

Why don't you guys just get some Carbon Fiber vinyl and cover your hood? It'll function the EXACT SAME WAY and look the same also. Plus you won't have to use hood pins.

Afterall, this is just a visual mod on our cars anyways.

It's like a 5-10lb difference, if that. Doesn't make any difference at all in terms of weight. You wouldn't notice the change on a scale.

That's why I said carbon fiber parts are really just for looks on these cars.

Which is also why I said to save yourself some money and use carbon fiber vinyl instead.

Technically it's steel, but it's a really thin steel. Not the kind you were thinking like on a old school chevelle that weighs over 100lbs.
