I believe that it would be a better product if it was real CF and maby they had some testing (wind tunnel or something) to back up its functionality. Then i could see people sporting it but i dont think that most people here would want to have fake CF hanging off their roof.

$50 says that the only people who buy these are people that want to look fast. Functional or not, this is an ugly product, and if it is functional, none of us have cars fast enough for it to matter.

I agree with Boosted, this will do little to nothing for out cars. How often are you in your cobalt going over 100 (when it could do the most work, if it even does anything). And if its supposed to keep the wheels planted, when the hell are our wheels not planted, cobalts dont have downforce issues.

Plus the people buying these have base balts, you know they top out at 105, not a whole lot of aero this thing will have.

Plus you know if a real EVO sees one of these on a cobalt, hes just going to laugh his ass off and smoke em.

You act like it's hard to hit 100+. If you ever get to drive something with more than 135 (rated) hp, you'll notice that you can hit 100+ without trying. Especially in the SS/SC. I hit 100+ daily on my commute to work.

Anyway, as far as grip issues, the Vortex Generator isn't just for high speeds. Why do you think that this "ricer" thing is on mostly ralley cars? i.e. : EVO's and STI's and a few others I'm sure. Unfortunatly I don't know a great deal about ralley cars or rally racing. What I do know is that grip is a major factor between winning and losing. I even have a DVD at home that shows a Championship STI that has two sets of Vortex Generators on it. Can't remember the name of the DVD off the top of my head but I do know that the first half of the DVD is about the compairison of the GTR32, GTR33, GTR34, EVO VIII, STI, and what to expect out of a future GTR.

If someone shows me how to post up DVD clips I'll post both clips on this thread.

If you could read I asked how often do people actually go 100+, I know its easy to hit 100, I've done it several times. And rated horespower has nothing to do with it, I could get a p.o.s. 94 ford ranger up to 90 before it cut out, only 10 mph difference and 50+ hp difference. And Its people like you that make me think a lot of the ss/sc owners are dicks. You think you know it all. Then you brag about hitting 100 on your daily commute, good for you, when you wreck and bitch about it I'll laugh.

And the vortex generator, it won't see any results until higher speeds, 70+ when a car can actually see air effecting downforce on a vehicle. Day to day city driving, and even some highway driving will see no gain from a p.o.s. ebay item like this. I gurantee whoever created it made it just for looks.

i really dont think that anyone is buying this for funtion, more for the looks. and im sure that when someone sees the pics of it on the car and it looks good there gonna buy it, or the people more into performance are going to say that it looks good but there gonna put there money elsewhere

 

first off the evo will smoke your car regardless of if it has this item or not so thats a pointless statement.....
Second he will also laugh regardless of this item because they generally laugh at our "slowbalt" anyway....

Third if your trying to say that these are useless until 70+ and therefore a waste of time....lets talk about our wing shall we? or for that matter lets talk about ANY wing on ANY car on the street.....

All of your points are moot. Its CF, its built for the cobalt, it WILL have some effect...not likely a huge one....but hell it might even work awesome....you dont know....but it WILL generate a vortex, which is what its there for.
either way some people love the look of it...and theres a good likely hood it will be functional in some capacity.

I never said our wing had a function, as a matter of fact i've argued the wing being functionless quite a few times.

looks to me like the general consensus is that if this was a highly engineered, quality product with perfect fit and proven performance results, that it would be worthwhile. So this one isnt great... doesnt mean it isn't a good idea. We just need some reputable company to do the research to design one thats quality. This is like saying all splitters suck. Well some do, and some are ugly and cheap... but in general, splitters serve a purpose too, and can be cool. It all depends on the quality of the product.

Actually I'm guessing as to when such functionality would actually be seen. Usually its roughly around 70, sometimes less.
