changing shift knob?
changing shift knob?
so im trying to install my TWM shiftknob. I popped the cap off and removed the screw. and the ****** wont come off....any tips and tricks to get it off?
You have to take 2 flathead screwdrivers and wedge them up underneath the stock shift knob. There is a ledge under there, you should be able to feel it, and then you pry up with one screwdriver on each side. It sucks the first time you do it. I nearly ruined my stock shift knob because the leather on that bottom ledge of the stock knob takes a beating. It took me probably 30 minutes to figure out how to get the damn thing off when I changed mine.
it's a b*tch of a job.. have fun. silver paint is wearing off the top of my shiftknob. wish i could replace just the cap easily :/
same deal as steering wheel. paint chipped off center cap. have to get a whole steering wheel assembly. can't buy the cap by itself.

you might as well wait to install the knob
the stock shift "rod" isnt threaded IIRC, so you TWM wont fit onto it without the STS kit with it.. not to mention I'm not sure how your reverse lockout will line up..
