All good windshield glass shops can repair those. You don't want to try that because inject to much or the repair compound and your windshield can get way worse.

Ask your dealer who they use for windshield repair. Check my website www.ohnonotagain.com . It's a little outdated and I'm working on redoing it, so take it easy on my website abilities. Using a windshield repair only shop is almost always a better choice than a glass shop. He wants your repair to look nice and last so you will come back to him when you get another star in your windshield. The glass shop figures they will see you if it cracks out, to get a new shield.

Red face

Thanks for the help guys. But I think I am just gonna let it go. It really is just a chip, not a real crack. I may do more damage if I attempt to repair it. Any recomendations for scratch removal??

Scratch removal in the glass? toothpaste. Use a very fine (I think 00) steel wool and glass cleaner to clean the glass. There are also places that will buff the glass. As long as its super fine steel wool, it will not scratch the glass, just take all the nasty **** off of it.

As far as getting cracks or chips repaired, its not going to take it fully away. All it does it prevent the chip from running, and the glass from cracking. You can see the resin spot, and the charge is usually about $50+. However, a cobalt windshield is expensive as heck (at least a PPG one).

By the way, I have been installing autoglass and other vehicle glass, as well as repairing interior water leaks for a few years now. I work with my grand dad, who has been doing it for almost 40 years now. Also, if you want a reference, go to HOTROD.com, and type in Bill Wiemann. I installed the glass in his 69 Hemi Coronet, and his 69 Dodge Daytona.

Later,
Chris~

A good windshield repair tech can make all but the worst of damage barely visible. By this I mean anything smaller than a fifty cent piece will be hardly noticeable.

yea, hardly noticeable, but not "good as new" Maybe to the un-trained eye it will go unnoticed, but to someone who is really ****, or knows what they are looking for, you will still see it. No matter what, its not going to ever look like it did when it was new. Thats all I was trying to establish.

If you just want to keep it from cracking anymore, fill the crack with clear finger nail polish. This will keep the crack from spreading.

No way in the world will clear or any other color of fingernail polish keep damage in a windshield from running. This is an old wives tale.

Go to a good windshield place and get it fixed!!!!
A chip will turn into a crack with a simple change of weather. they have a process where they drill into the chip, fill it with some kind of clear ooze and then use a vacuum pump and heat to make it look almost like new. The important thing though is that it will not grow after doing this. It is relatively inexpensive. When we do it to our company vehicles it runs us $34 for them to come out and do it (please bear in mind we do get a better rate because of volume.)
Hope this helps!!
