Cleaning rims

So I just cleaned my car the other day (first hand wash since before winter) and I was cleaning the rims and in the corners there's like a brown residue (probably caked on brake dust). I tried scrubbing it but no luck, anyone know best thing to get it off?

Also...what is the best stuff to shine the rims?

Use pump sprayer Meguiar's All Rims. Spray liberally, allow to sit for a few minutes and power wash rinse well. Does a great job and is safe for aluminum. If not, what ever product you use be careful it is for aluminum, because you can permanently discolor them.
