Clear coat cf?

I have no idea how this is supposed to be done, and I took it to a paint shop and they didnt know either. Someone shed some light on this.

mine cf is clear coated my buddy who does paint work did it

they spary a coat of clear over the cf hood or trunk lol pretty self explanitory

i thought they were supposed to wetsand the gel so it could bond better. its the best thing for cf i would only buy cf if i did this. that way you dont have to worry about fading and you can treat it like reg paint and wax it and ****

the gel lhas to come off completely and then wet sand clean then spray end thred

haha im not a painter so im not sure about that part i havent waxed my car since i got my trunk but ill found out before i do my buddy is a painter and detailer so ill ask

Yeah it isnt just bam spray it, theres more to it. But if you could find out that would be great.

the gel doesnt come all the way off i was quoted 125 theres not way a body shop is going to de-gel and clearcoat for 125

i got my hood del geled wet sanded candy apple yellow clear coated for 100.00

mine has the edges painted with middle left cf
everyones seen my hood here.

if a body shop tells yuo they have no idea how to clear carbon fiber go to another body shop...

clean the hood thourghouly

sand down with 1000-1200 so theres no orange peel

bake the hood for 45-60 minutes at 160 degrees(typical spray booth operating temp)
- this allows any mold release agent left to be baked out and pro longs life of the clear

take it out let it cool down

clear the top side of it

wetsand completely flat again with 1200-1500 followed by 3000

buff to a nice shine

install
