clearcoat help...

im in the process of painting my bowtie (i made a thread, i know) i got the krylon black paint for plastics all painted on and dried (about 8-9 coats; i had to cover a crack) and then added the clear coats (about 3-5 coats, some heavier than others : / ) anyways on the back of the can it said that the clear coat would turn "milky" in appearance for about 24 hours. i did the last coat around 1am last night and checked on it about 7:15am this morning before heading to work; the paint was still very milky...it did not clear up even a little bit. im worried that it wont clear up completely. did i use too much clear coat? has anyone else had this same issue? sorry for all the questions, i'm new at painting things ha

Not sure of the answer. But if it doesn't clear up you can sand it down and start over real cheap.

Did you get the actual clear coat or the glaze?

Am I the only one that realized the problem with what the OP said?

The can states: "Clear coat will be milky for 24 hours"

The OP states: "I finished at 1AM and checked it 6 hours later and it's still milky"

wait 18 more hours...

Good point ^^^^^ but holy multipost Batman!

Thicker you put the clear on, longer it will take for the haziness to go away.

If it's not gone in 2-3 days, sand off and start again

There's nothing wrong with rattle cans. I used krylon for my bowtie and had my heighbor who paints cars ask me where I got an airbrush from. ha ha. take your time and it'll look just as good as if it were air brushed on.

Its not a good idea to paint when humid...l wait until the humidity is somewhat low.

Anyways, is the clear coat the same brand as the base coat? If you use a Kyrlon base, but some other brand of clear, the formulations of the two brands can cause issues.
