Cobalt ss/sc Pillar and guages??

Ok im tryin to install and buy the pillar from cobalt addiction.com with the three gauges and all but since we all have the airbag there and say if was to install the 3 guage pillar would that void my warranty??

Or will it be ok??

And how exactly would the stock pillar pop out?? Would it be ok and not deploy my airbag or what because i dont wanna pay a couple hundred dollars to get a new airbag

advice needed
Thanks

well see having a aftermarket pillar with more gauges could disrupt the airbags, and if the airbags do deploy then i can see them saying you lost your warranty....

dont want that to happen

They wont deploy, it is controlled by a sensor, and an airbag is more than a couple hundred try a grand or more.....or atleast that is for the front airbags I dont know about the pillars, should be the same though

Who cares about the warranty, it says on the site that they will not work with the airbags. If you are worried about the warranty leave your car stock. The pillar is very easy to remove, one screw under the tab that says airbag. Check out my post for pics. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appearance-48/got-my-pods-cobalt-addiction-29286/

You would spend a totaly of about 800 w/o tax/shipping/ect on the set of 4 Bags.

The airbags come down from the top of the door......not from the pillar....

The only warranty I would worry about is the electrical system. If the electronics are not properly installed and you short out the system, THEN you're in trouble. I honestly don't know why they'd say they don't work with the airbags though.

Nope the airbags are behind the pillar but they are held in with a strap. Pull the pillar off and check it out.

I was under the impression they came from above the sill. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/general-cobalt-68/pillar-pods-new-gauges-2568/ Post number 7 there is why I was thinking they weren't in the pillar.

WEIRD. I know for a fact when they deploy that they drop down from above the side windows, both front and rear. It'd make so much more sense for them to be stored up there rather than in the pillar. Oh well.

They do depoly from above the sill, I know that for a fact. That's why I'm also confused as to why they'd be "stored" in the pillar. Would make more sense for them to sit above the sill rather than in the pillar.

alicia is right...when we had my car apart the airbags were tucked under the headliner along the rail. when you think of it this way why would you need an airbag in the pillar....you have one on the steering wheel. if you get into a bad enough accident, if the airbag was in the pillar.....the steering wheel airbag would deploy in front of the pillar airbag thus making it completely pointless.

Heh, ok. I don't see where anybody was talking about "rice pods" so I have no idea what your original post was about. Seemed more like a poor attempt at trying to troll the thread.

Anyways, on my pillar I took my stock one into the parts store and found a paint close to the one on there to paint the screw to match the rest of the pillar. One note though, if you get an AEM UEGO wideband, you will have to do some hacking at the pod pillar to get it to fit. The silver trim ring is way too big to fit in the Autometer pillar.

www.cobalt-addiction.com has them listed on their website. Click the performance section, then gauges.
