I try to come up with new taillight ideas, and I wanted to combine all th things I like in my own, signature set. A lot of $$ in parts and many, many hours went into building this set, so in Bass Waves' words, I won't be selling these. Unless... ;-)
Started out with a set of K2 clear smoked LED tails, gutted them, and inserted LED tubes in all 4, 07-11 VW Passat LED inserts in the outers and 1100 lumen reverse bulbs in the inners.
Then I separated the blink and brake signals by wiring the switchbacks into the front blinkers and wiring the brake lights into the 3rd brake light. Added some strobes to the brakes for added visibility. Enjoy!

Those are maad nice dude!
My buddy kevin got a set with the volkswagen inners from you in a stockish red housing. At first i thought meh but once i saw them in action... Wow!
This set in particular: switchback effect looks awesome! I think the rings themselves look a little too big but man overall those are so clean!

i love the consistency of the rings. May I ask what length you used and where you sources them from? I like how there is barely any light leak from the rings themselves. How did you go about securing them to the inner face of the lense? I used some clear epoxy and some 110 and 90 mm rings for my tails.

Yes someone asked me to make those particular lights for them but it can't be done without either cutting into the bumper or assembling them on the car. So I came up with an alternative based on OEM tails. These are the same, only using K2 tails which make the LED rings more pronounced than the OEM lenses:
OEM lights + lenses:
K2 lights + lenses:
OEM lights + lenses:
K2 lights + lenses:

Loving the switchback idea, you don't see that often.
Quick question, how did you get the K2 lenses off the lights?
They don't seem to open as easily as the stock lights, as I'm sure they are using a different type of sealant. The oven trick has gotten me nowhere so far, and I don't want to experiment with too high a temperature and risk melting the lights. Are you using a heat gun? Any tips?
