Color match spray paint.

So I ordered a color match spray paint of gmpartsdirect.com so I could paint my bowties at the beach.

So after a week of waiting, it finally comes, 3 hrs before I leave. I open it up and its a can of clear coat.

I followed the color match sticky at the top of the appearance forum and ordered product number 12345119.

Now if you type that in, it just says a vehicle paint, NOTHING describing it. No color, what kind it is, not even a freaking picture.

So now Im screwed with a can of clear coat I didn't want.

Im just wondering if anyone would like to purchase it? Or knows what the REAL code is for that website.

I think its ridiculous that the website does NOT describe the product they are selling.

Anyway, Im not one bit blaming this site, I just want to know if I could get help and end up with the real color match color.

Also, will black spray paint from the hardware store match?
How many shades of black can there be?

Thanks !

More than you think. And go to a Auto Paint supply store and as them. They can color match and possibly have it in a spray can.

Black is black...there are no "shades". Black is actually the darkest shade of any hue - which is why Black is not a colour. It is defined as a "Neutral". Anything lighter than black and darker than white is called "grey"

just throwin that out there

Thats the problem, its such a hassle to ship aerosol cans now its not even worth it with the cost of shipping etc to sell to someone. If you want one just use the code from the sticky for black lol

Well I was going to sell it for about 14 so you would save 5 buckks but I guess since it would be expensive to ship I guess I'll just keep it and use it. Sorry man.

And I did use the code in the sticky, turns out to be a clear coat. Hense why that kid now has two cans.

If you would, change the code in the sticky.

Thanks everyone

Hmmm.....

Gloss Black
Flat Black
Ultra-Flat Black
Satin Black
Semi-Flat Black

Probably some more, and I know black is black but there is different types.

Your not gonna get clear coat from the 41U because thats the color code thats listed in the trunk thats under the mat. I would know considering the spoiler i bought, i bought it from the website painted. And they asked for the color code. And that was my color code. 41U

yeah but a few have order this same thing from gmpartsdirect and received clear coat instead of the paint so thats why im worried. I dont want to order and receive clear because then its a waste of money. See if you go to gmpartsdirect.com and search for GM PART # 12345119 it comes up with it but it just says paint but doesnt show black or say any other details.

Yeah, really smart idea for a successful bussiness. Just don't have any description about your product, keep the customer guessing what they are buying, you know, they love that. Developers FTW!

I better get an email back.

Ok everyone get this. I just called english color and paint in richardson, texas and they siad they could mix me up a 1/2 pint of base/clear coat for $51.80 and then sell me a aerosal spray gun for $5.60 that should do the job as long as i would spray the clear a few minutes after shooting the base/clear coat on my mirrors. That price still seems steep i think. I might just full prep them, get them in primer, wetsand and take it to a body shop and have them just spray it. Thats a little steep for me to do everything myself for just some mirrors.
