Coupe and Sedan Rear Spoilers
Coupe and Sedan Rear Spoilers
Hi All
Can anyone tell me if the holes in the trunklids are the same for the coupe and sedan spoiler? I'd like to use the low rise SS/TC coupe spoiler on my SS/TC sedan.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Coupe and sedan holes do not match up...have you checked out the optional sedan spoiler?

They do not look bad on the sedan. I saw one on a red Cobalt 2 years ago and it looked good...IMO. The ends match the curves of the taillights.

You guys are great. I really appreciate your help. It sure is nice to know that I can join a new car forum and have such helpful members.
Thanks.
Do you mind me asking how you went about adding the coupe rear bumper or was it just the lower valence that you added? I really like that look.
Thanks.

The lip is from the ss/sc and no there isn't any marks on the inside of the bumper cuz it's a sedan bumper. There's a how to on this for the 2.2 coupe. Just follow that if you gonna try you have to measure the slipts and mark it on the bumper
I don't mind the ques. And welcome to css.net

Installed the GM Accessories Cobalt Sedan rear spoiler. Before the pics, I have to make a couple of comments.
1. The stock SS rear spoiler is a biatch to take off because of the double sided tape used assist attaching the stock spoiler to the trunk. I used the old fishing line trick to saw away at the tape, then used a 4" spatula to help pry it off the rest of the way.
2. My SS was built in October 08, but the white paint under the stock spoiler stands has already yellowed, presumably from water settling in and under the tape. I used a buffing compound but it's still a little bit yellow.
3. As per note 2, this is critical, because the GM Accessories spoiler has a more narrow profile to the spoiler stands and do not cover as much surface area, therefore some of the yellowing is visible if one looks carefully.
4. Since the stock SS comes with a spoiler, there are two big fat holes (series of) for the forward fasteners. The GM Accessories spoiler, since the profile of the stands are more narrow, barely cover the existing holes, in fact, I could see them them from above, if I looked closely. This is critical because it would allow water to penetrate into the trunk. Solution, lots of white silicone sealer around the openings and studs from the stand, prior to fastening. After the weather warms up, I am going to run a bead of silicone around the edge of the spoiler stands where it meets the trunk lid.
Other than those notes, it looks pretty good, at least more substantial than the stock SS spoiler. Next mod, the rear SS coupe lip, and that should do it for the rear end. (for now)
Actually, I'm waiting on taillight/third brake light tint to arrive.
Now to the pics. More to come when the weather gets better.

Finally had some nice weather, so while I was power washing the driveway, I had a chance to take some full vehicle pics.

Also installed some Cobalt Sill plates too.

And this will be going in soon.
