Angry Cracked and scuffed front bumper...

My front bumper is scuffed up and cracked...long story. I went to about 6 body shops and I got estimates from $900 to $1300. What's the best place to get the stock front bumper? The guys at the body shop wanted to charge me almost $400 just before the bumper before painting!

What model Cobalt do you have exactly. I manage a collision center and can llok up prices and all that. Are you going to need the lower valence if you have an SS model?

I have an SS Supercharged. In the conversations with the people at the body shops they were pretty consistant in saying that I didn't need the lower vallance.

you may not need the lower lip but it looks way better with it on there.. you may be able to look a bumper on ebay and come out a lil cheaper than buyin a new one unless you just want it to be a new one.. thats all up to you though.. if you wanna see what a ss bumper looks like with out the lower lip on it then look at the 2.4 ss/na.. they where made with out the lower lip on them..

In my system, to replace the front bumper and repaint the lower valence it came up to $803. There may be more than that invovled in the job though. As far as the price of the bumper goes, they are correct. The bumper costs $381 from GM. They are not B.S. ing you on that.

to save money, install it yourself. just have the bumper painted. I saved a good couple hundred dollars by installing a bumper myself.

Do not do that. In order to have the bumper painted properly it must be off the car, otherwise your materials will not get everywhere and you will have flaking issues later on down the road.

That is a new bumper, but it is not a GM bumper. It is an aftermarket bumper. Aftermarket bumpers looks the same, but do not fit the same. Anytime we are forced to use aftermarket parts by insurance companies, we always have fitiment issues. If you want it to look right, use the right parts.

That is a fair deal as long as they are using or did use quality materials. That is about what my shop charges considering the damage to the bumper is minor. By the way, the bumper is made out of urethane.

I hope they can fix my bumper over getting a new one and under stand about the aftermarket parts. It doesn't look to be really bad but the grill is cracked and on the bumper the piece that goes across the grill has detached its self right on the left side at the very end of it in the corner. I really hope it can just be repaired, do you have any suggestions or comments on it being fixed. I no it is hard to judge with out seeing it. I found the grill for $30. I am going to take it to a shop on Monday to see about having it fixed.

he didnt get into all the specs but he came out and gave me a quote that im gunna do in the summer, i dont think they would do bad jobs, wen i went in they had 3 z06s that they were painting and they got a separate painting booth unlike others, when i go there i might get him to do my interior trim too, what color do you think would be good with a laser blue exterior and inside is black/baby blue, i cant decide btw laser blue or just to paint it gunmetal/black

Well now I am really far away, living in Wynne, AR for work. There is a body shop across the street from my house here in AR. I hope they will not try and rape me on a price.

I also just found the stock SS/SC OEM bumper for $228.26 and $177.26 for the 2.4. What is the diffrence between the two bumpers? I know the SS/SC has a lip but is it removable? If so my stock lip is fine and can be transfered over to the new bumper. Any help on the difference's would appreciated.
