Custom Gen 1's
So I have some Gen 1 Projectors that have seen better days. They are full of scratches and leak and have oxidation and burnt out LEDS...yadda yadda. Im thinking instead of buying all new headlights i might try to restore them a little by:
-cleaning and polishing the lenses inside and out
-paint the housings gloss black or maybe even color match (they are a faded, flat black now)
-replace the leds
-reseal them
Has anybody ever done this before and can offer tips or pics?
I read the How To on painting and whatnot and it really helps but any further help is appreciated
Thanks

I took my Gen3's and ditched the crappy lens they come with and used lenses out of the stock headlights. Color matched them, tinted the reflectors and installed CCFL halo's. Also am using the LED's for turn signals. There's a few screw's in the back to hold the lens on. Take them off. I stuck them in the over at 200 degrees for 15-20 min. People use higher temps with less time but I didn't want to risk melting them. Pull them out of the over and the lens will pull off like nothing. Do the same thing to put the lens back on. I dug out the old silicone and put new stuff in for a good seal. Some people don't. If you wanted to upgrade to the stock headlight lens it gets a little harder. There's no screw hole in the stock lens to hold it tight so i used a bunch of straps and left them in till the silicone dried. The LED's are just a 194 wedge style. You can pick them up on ebay for cheeeeeap. Here's some pic's

You're golden then! I know the first time I did mine I was checking them every 2 minuites lol. But put them on a pan with a towel at 200 degrees for 15-20 min and you will have nothing to worry about. To check if it's hot enough I poke the lens adhesive with a screwdriver. You will know when it's soft enough. It gets goopy. Just make sure you take all the screws out of the back holding the lens first.
