Custom Interior Work (suede)
To start, I finally found an amazing deal and went out and bought an 08 Cobalt SS. Had only 200 kms on it from the dealer and only twenty grand (thats Canadian dollars). No hesitation and no regrets. I read reviews prior to buying it of course. I have always been interested in this car. Well the big thing that most people say when they review or talk about the cobalt is the cheap interior plastics and such. Well, I decided to go out and do something about it. I saw a picture of the Lamborghini LP-670 and although the exterior looks like a lambo LP640 was in an accident with a riced out civic, the interior was absolutely beautiful. It has alcantara everywhere. It looked luxurious and I thought that would be a great idea to make the cobalt look better. Went out and bought a few can of spray adhesive, super glue, and around 13 square meters of suede fabric (all available from your local fabric dealer and craft store lol). So I started off looking at the forums here for how-to guides on this website and here are the ones that were most effective:
Remove Panels:

Suede Addition (someone had the same idea of using suede):
https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/appearance-48/micro-suede-dash-trim-141310/
So down to it. I started upholstering the lower driver's panel beneath the steering wheel first.

Then I took the glove box off, which is actually really easy. When you get down to it, the interior is really easy to pull apart. (shhhhhh.... not cheaply made at all
) So here is the glove box reinstalled in suede:

And the last part (so far!) is the headliner. This was a little more difficult, but all you really have to do is pull off the a-pillars, the c-pillars and a center cap near the rear. That's about it. It's very time consuming though. Covering the headliner in suede was tricky and took a couple house. Hint for people wanting to do this in the future: Sprayy adhesive doesn't work very well on the fabric, you are better off using a glue gun. It sticks quickly and effectively. So here is the interior of my car so far:

It is still a work in progress, as I have yet to do the dash trim (going to be an emerald green suede of a lot higher quality as it is directly from a hide). Let me know what you guys think and don't hesitate to post your own custom interiors!

Updated Info
Hey guys, I know some of you ain't too excited about me using suede to do up my interior in but it's a hell of a lot softer and more luxurious than the stock cheap plastics lol. I love the ergonomics of the interior, however I wish that cruise control and audio functions on the bezel were reversed so you can cruise and switch the song/station. When I remove the bezels later on I will probably do it then. Not too hard. I was glad the airbag didn't go off on the passenger side when I put the fuze back in lol. It took roughly 6 hours to remove the dash, upholster in suede, let dry, and put back in. Not too bad and while it dried I did the A-pillars. Oh and I also did the trim in a glossy black. Wanting to blacken out the inside. So anyways, here are a couple of pics of the newly sueded interior:

Still have a few more things to do but definitely I like. It looks a lot better in person. My buddy has an 07 Cobalt SS/SC and he sat in my car for 5 minutes feeling the interior lol He loves it and so do I. Hope you guys do too!

Dude, you "sweded" your cobalt!
(Be kind, Rewind reference)
Like some others have said, looks like you did a good job.
I'm on the fence as to my feelings about it other than that,
I'd probably have to see it IRL to get the full effect.
Oh yeah, and now that you've done this much, you gotta go ATW.
You got the pill in your mouth, if you don't swallow at this point, pretty soon it's
going to start tasting bitter, lol.
Go ATW FTMFW!!!!

Looks awesome man. I'm definitely a fan. It gives the interior a much higer end finish. You should definitely do the rest of the tan parts though as they clash with the theme. Good job for sure though. 2 first posts both with pictures and mods. Right down to business.

you did a fine job.... now to kill the rest of the tan
