Dealer 'SS' package

I wish I had a camera with me to take pictures of this lame dealer package I saw the other day.. you guys would die laughing. It's worse than the 'X-ray' package.

It was a base cobalt with a dealer made 'SS' package.. for $4995 extra.. they put in:

Leather seats-gray leather with black inserts.. seemed aftermarket not the standard leather Cobalt seats. Ugly.

Sunroof - again.. not the GM sunroof.. looked poorley installed. No rubber trim on the outside top. It was some sort of plastic.

SS spoiler - This was the legit SS spoiler. Probably the only half decent thing in the package.

'Super Sport' Badging - They had these lame circular SS patches on the sides that said 'Super Sport'. You could only see the SS from farther away. Very lame.

I believe that was it. Still had the 15" steel wheels with covers.. manual windows.. crap base stereo etc.. There were NO options. This thing was base as base could be.

This was the biggest rip off package I've ever personally seen in my life. Final sticker was something like $19,700 I think.

This was parked in the showroom in place of the G85 SS I bought. Makes me trust my dealer less seeing them sell crap like that, although they have been very good to me so far.

Personaly I think GM should call them on the carpet for putting any SS badging on the car , how about a name so everyone knows who to stay away from.

No.. sorry, I've been busy packing. I'm moving. I expect to get a call one of these days when a part comes in to service my car(I had a hairline crack in the bottom ground effect on the bumper upon delivery). I'll see if it's still there then.

I agree!!!!! The Super Sport is a brand for them, just like any other brand you expect certain things - in this case the SS you expect top-of-the-line performance. What a shame that a dealer feels the need to go and do something like this.

I think the people at GM would be plenty mad to find out about it, as well they should. I'd love to know the name of the dealer where the OP saw this and fire off an e-mail to GM about it. Now if they marketed it like the "racing" package that they had on the Cavalier, fine...add a few trim pieces and some badging and you've got a "Racing Edition" base Cobalt but don't call it an "SS".

Well the badging actually says Super Sport. It looks like SS from a distance being that the other letters are so small.

The package is called the 'Name of Dealer 'SS' package'. It's pretty clear on a seperate window sticker that it is a dealer made up package with the options listed.

I'm not interested in getting anybody in trouble because other than this, I know of no other 'dishonest' things they have done. I have been treated fairly and very well so far to my knowledge.

I see what you're saying, but I think GM should at least be aware of the situation. Not to get anybody in trouble, but just to let them know that kind of stuff is unnacceptable. Not only does it make the real SS S/C look bad, but it also tarnishes the image of GM as well as the dealership.

They must be clueless to think that people are dumb enough to buy into that crap, but I suppose all it takes is one uninformed person to make the sale

Either way I think you should e-mail GM and let them know about it. Just mention the name of the dealership and what is going on, tell them you had a positive experience buying your car there, but you just don't like what they are doing. That way the General can address the issue, and hopefully thst dealership will refrain from future "dealer rice"

This is why most people thought that an SS was a joke, they used to strap it on anything for all of the chevy GM cars that had alittle more in them. Just like on edmunds.com they said that the new SS deserves the SS signature, cause its good. I hate how car companies do that.

Hey guys had teh same problem in my town. Went up to RAMP Chevy and found a SS sitting out front on the grass thought it was an 06 cuz of the badgi9ng wit no supercharged emblem and it had chrome rims on it. Walk up to it and its just an LS with a stick n tinted windows. They put the SS badges on it and said it was an SS. WTF is that it really pissed me off that i went to go and look at it.

Wow your all retarted. Those arent the LS's. Those are the 2.4 SS Cobalts. Except maybe the first one he was tlaking about. My friends sister has the 2.4 with the exact same round SS badging. Chrome wheels etc. I mean I could be wrong but did you check to see which ecotec was in the bay. I talked to a GM rep and he said a dealer cannot place any form of SS badge on their cars unless its a 2.0 or 2.4 because thats false advertisement.

The real SS NA does NOT have round SS badges - they're the same as the SS/SC. Same brakes (easiest way to tell) as SS/SC.

i got a ripoff package on mine, but i waited til it was used to buy it :P it has razzi body kit, 17 inch wheels, flames(which i took off) and also had 0 options. its a 5 speed though, which is why i bought it. i guess my package is better than that one because it didnt say ss or anything. new it was like 18k, but i bought it used with 13k miles for 13k
