Debadging/Reapplying

I had a question when I got to thinking about how I am going to debadge my 2009 SS coupe. I was going to put my rear SS emblem up front to replace the Chevy Bowtie. Then I wanted to take the emblem(s) that spelled "COBALT" an re-arrange them over the center of the trunk's keyhole. Im undecided about the "Turbocharged" emblem.

Also, since I ordered the Rally Yellow, I was going to put black colored vinyl overlays on the 2 side "SS" emblems. And for sure have my windows at 20% tint.

My question is about re applying the "COBALT" leters on the trunk. What do I use as far as an adhesive to re apply them. Someone who did it said they used 3M-tape. I live in michigan, and with the weather, 3M tape doesn't seem durable enough? Am I wrong. Are there different kinds of 3M tape? Liquid based adhesives, more trouble but worth it?.

My thoughts.

What are your thought's everyone?

nice.. like it. ok.. so 3m automotive tape it is. thanks guys!

one question.. do you have to cut the tape out to the exact size of the emblem, or just get some tape on the middle an edges?

If you put the rear SS badge up front, make sure you do it right. I've seen too many done very poorly and it makes the whole front end looks like crap. Good luck! I'm just taking the wing off mine (unless I just order without a wing, which hopefully I can)

well you tell me to do it the "right way"... what exactly is the right way AND the wrong way? Maybe Im thinking the wrong way is the right way and that would lead me to installing the badge the wrong way, am I right... right?

In case you didnt know, 3m foam adhesive is best, not just double-sided tape.

3M Automotive tape.

Seems this is the stuff I want. But that is still a thin foam strip of tape. Wont the emblems have to sit flush on the car... no foam tape in between? Or is this the wrong tape for badges?

Take a close look at the badges and emblems. You can see some foam tape in between them and the body

lol wasn't being insulting. Relax. I just meant to take a lot of time and care to make sure everything is level and blends well with the front end. Simple as that.

It's cool. I understand you're a little upset because you won't have as much time as I will to have fun with the ss/tc before winter weather hits for you guys up there

Dude, don't tease me! Im counting down the days.. I expect and do not really forsee any reason for any delays.. Should have my 09 SS/TC first week of September.

I am bummed because all I have for pictures is my smartphone... it has a 3MegaPixel camera on it, but still not up to date with most point-and-shoots under 3 or 4 hundred dollars today.

I am sure it will suffice however. I know some peeps are getting their 2009 SS/TCs this week and on.. so I am deffinatly not the first one to get one on the forums here. But I am still geeked. I am going to post some pics ASAP of that RPD (Reconfigurable Display Unit) and ALL of the different measurements/monitoring settings.

Also. I might start a thread for silliness where 09 owners try to record and compete for highest G-force measurements via the RPD! hehe
