DIY Tint Kits?

Has anyone looked at this site or tried it?

http://www.snaptint.com/car_tint_Che..._complete.html

You can order everything from 50% to 5% on their site. 5% isn't legal in a lot of places but that's business over the internet. Given that they'll add in the windshield strip and an installation kit (for an added fee of course) it's pretty much everything you need.

id rather spend 180-200 and get it done by a pro, that will guarantee the install and know what they are doing in the first place... ive never been in a tint shop that wouldnt put any % tint you want on, no matter what the local law is.

Oh absolutely, my stuff's already tinted and I had a professional do it. I was just wondering if anyone'd seen this or tried it.

I agree, I watched him do quite a bit of it (it's all he's done for 27 or 28 years) and it's not something I would want to do.

My cousin (05 LS Sport package) tried to get 5% all the way around his and the tint guy said "I can't do that," so apparently some shops won't do it.

that's a load of crock. all tint is illegal in NY and there are tint shops everywhere. all they have to do is inform you that it's illegal and they're clear..

all they have to do is inform you of the local tint law, after that if you decide to driver YOUR vehicle on public roads with illegal tint its your problem, not the shops.

Hmm. In Kentucky the shop has to put a thing on the doorjamb certifying it's legal in KY so I sort of doubt it'd fly with them.

I dunno man, for me the tint was an easy install. I'm just not going to touch the back window because of the defrost strips, I'll pay a shop to do that. I have 20% in the front and 5% in the back. Yes illegal but I had a cop pull up next to me at a gas station and not say a word.
